    H'lo!
We've got 2 weeks left in our school (hubby & I will be driving as a team) and we're just poking around sites like this to learn what we can.

Both of us left active duty less than a year ago, so we're planning on driving tankers for Schneider since their Military Apprenticeship would increase our starting pay considerably. But we're willing to let others try to change our mind ^_^ Waggoners did impress us as well, but had a weird feeling about the dude.
All the recruiters coming to our school reminds me of dating. Guy shows up looking all nice, saying all the right things to get in your pants. That about right? lol Unfortunately for them, our class is pretty good at asking questions that make them squirm. ;)

Already got our TWIC card process started, taken all of the written tests.. just gotta do the road test (and hazmat, they now make ya wait until after the road test to take it in Texas)

Happy to listen to advice and tips! And I'll be reading and not throwing my 2 cents in until I actually know a thing or two.

    Congrats on new career! :yes2557:

SNI is a great company to start with and learn. Lots of support, yards, service centers... You'll get good mileage driving tankers.

    Good luck :biggrin_25519:

a friend from school went thru the SNI tanker training in western Pa. He said it was intense and only half the vlass was offered a tanker job afterwards. He was offered a job but took a bus driving job with NJ transit.

    Almost there =)
Scheduled for our school tests Friday & Monday and then DPS testing Tuesday.
Our instructors (2 in a class of 7, so a pretty good amount of time behind the wheel.. about 2 hrs each in the truck I'm in) are sure we'll all pass just fine. No one is bumping curbs any more, and we all seem to have figured out downshifting smoothly except for one re-fried. (she went through the class once already and they decided she needed more road time before going to dps. I don't think even another 6 weeks is going to do her good, bless her heart)
Today John let us practice whatever we thought we needed, so we ended up just driving around looking for tight enough corners to try on our own with only a little reminder here and there. I think him feeling confident in our skills makes us more comfortable driving. We briefly had someone a bit more high strung, and it only made us more skittish about everything. :/

I do hope we hear back from this mysterious recruiter Mandy, who I'm almost convinced doesn't exist.
Joe in Houston referred us to Suzette, then Rhonda, and eventually Rhonda remembered that we were a team and she isn't a team recruiter... so now we're leaving v-mails and emails to "Mandy" who is either on vacation or so overwhelmed she can't return calls. 0_o

Sent an email further up this morning, maybe I'll get an answer from somewhere tomorrow :)

    Awesome day today!

Got a 100 on the first half of our yard skills test and a 96 on the other half of the day =)
1st half was couple, uncouple & straight backing
2nd half was alley dock & parallel parking.
    Hubby did the same :)

annnnd... We got a call back today from Mandy's assistant and got the ball rolling again.

Starting our weekend on a great note!
    Can't wait for Monday!

    Yes!

Not only did the two of us pass the school's route, all of our class did.
(Except the girl who came back for more practice. She is just terrible. Poor thing. But she wasn't one of our original class )

So, on to the DPS route tomorrow!
Here's to hoping I don't die from old age waiting for my turn. 0_o

And... we might, just maybe.. squeeze into the Dallas orientation next week =)
