Echo/Delay/RB

I hear there are external units that have separate power hook ups and you plug your mic into it and then plug it into the radio mic input.

I saw one on Ebay in the UK called an Echo Chamber. It has echo, delay, roger beep and K-beep. I would like to have one, mainly for adding a pinch of delay and/or echo. I'm not interested in having someone install one inside my radio unless that's the best choice.

Being an OTR trucker means I really don't have time to leave my radio behind.

I recently switched from my Cobra LTD 29 (the Harley Davidson one) and picked up a Galaxy DX 979 refurbish. I really like the way the galaxy listens and keys. My talkback is clearer and I noticed I can hear the big radios in Phoenix a lot clearer than before.

Any suggestions? I haven't found one of these units online and I don't know where to look. It would be nice if I could find something local as well.

 

It's called a K-beep because it is morse code for the letter K. It's cool. I'm not really into roger beeps, but they are quite useful when you're out in the middle of the deserts in AZ and CA and just barely reaching another radio.

Oh yeah. The echo/delay is meant for close range use, and just a tad of it. Just enough to distinguish myself from another driver nearby that might sound similar to me.

The K beep or roger beep is just for long range. I have no intent of using it in close range, where a lot of other radios would have to hear it.

My only complaint about roger beeps is that they are always much louder than the transmission of voice, but that kind of is the point.

I hear drivers and base stations that use beeps every single time they key up. It's really annoying when you're kind of far out and you just hear the beep, but no voice.

 

I got my radio modded by John at Xtreme CB in ABQ, NM behind the Flying J at the truck wash. He did a really nice job and got it done fast and gave me some radio checks before I left. I'm happy.

He didn't stick me with a turbo echo. I have some presets that are tasteful and sound good, without totally discoloring my spoken word.

I am happy.
