I'm a potential college dropout, should trucking be a plan 'B' for me?

I wasn't replying to you, but thanks for your service any way.
I'm working a security outfit right now and intend to stay in this until I figure out what else there is to do.

It all depends what you like. True, trucking can be hard at times but nice at other times. you get to meet all kinds of people, travel, and after you have a year or two on the road, you can drive solo and thats alot better. you can hook up your computer in the truck and go to school on-line too at your own pace. If you look at statistics, alot of college kids are working fastfood jobs and not the dream job they thought of when the enrolled at college.

    bentstrider83 Thanks this.

Whoa!! I guess I do have somewhat of a widespread audience!!

I've basically been here since I was four years old and if it weren't for driving the truck, I actually would not have gotten any sort of motivation to start thinking of getting out of here.
As for how it's treating me?
I basically live out over at my stepdads place too far to safely get any where on a bicycle.

As for the topic at hand, I'll just repeat everything that the everyone else is saying here by not completely giving up on school.
Even if it means getting away from academically-related courses and heading for something else in the technical/trade fields, explore those other options.
There are kids who are graduating with degrees and loan debt that still can't find work.
But, on the other hand, skilled certifications like welding, diesel-tech, and other industrial tech-related disciplines that are all hands-on/applied sciences seem to still be in high demand.

Not to mention less time consuming to obtain.

My nephew got a degree in business and could not find a job so he went to welding school. He is really enjoying it.

There are always the oil/gas fields of ND, MT, SD, and PA. Normal rough neck 40k. Expeienced Driver 70k.. Besides, he does not even know if he has what it takes to drive a big rig. And only 1% makes it past year one...

This pretty much goes for any career/job field nowadays.
You think you might be cut out for something, then find out you either don't have the heart, or the aptitude just doesn't stick.
