Too bad they won't let you guys drill much. CA used to be major oil state. Still could be if they pulled their heads out. You have 4 yrs you should have no problem unless your record is bad. Even then you can find some that will take up to 3 tickets and maybe 1 or 2 preventable s. Have you applied in person at all or just on line? Like everyone here says in person is the best way in TX. Large companies like Schneider are OK. Just no excuse for them to come in and offer $14 or abouts when starting rates are$15 up in DFW and $17-22 in W & S TX. They can get the higher rates. But it's the rats nature to cut things down instead of build them up. They give a lot of drivers a bad taste and they quit for good.
I would decide what part of TX or other state you are interested in and make a trip there. There are several new plays in W OK. I would probably concentrate on these. But I like being on things early before all the safety and other wasted paychecks ruin it. Being safe is good. Them making silly rules to justify their pay is not. Check Craigslist in OK and Amarillo. Probably find some jobs there others are not concentrating on. Lot of times in life if everyone is running to one side of the boat you will do better by going to the other side. If they are all going to Odessa,Victoria, Minot, Stanley check out Rifle CO. Vernal UT and OK & NM. There are oil plays starting or expanding all over the US-except CA,. You'll find something if you want it enough.

I just received my CDL and still need to take my written test for tanker and hazmat. I've been trying to do a lot of research before making a final decision on which company to work for. Schneider has presented an opportunity in the Victoria area to drive tanker. Can anyone give me any feedback on this position with Schneider in that area?

Plenty of tornados in West Texas. Not many people. So you don't hear about them.

ohh really , is high :/ yeah may be the pay is BIT more, but i think not be able to save enogh money i got a mortga in Miami Fl. is rented but i still have to get $300 from my pocket to complete morgage, plus renting an expensive apt in texas i think i will be broke most of the time or i can save liitle bit of money if i share the apt rent with a roomate, and i dont want to be in a place i dont want to be living permantly ,..Thinking to do 6 month with SNI and get the experience and move to another company a make doble like in ND or Canada u can make triple $$$...plus most company they have rotation like 3 or 4 weeks on and 1 off....

if i go with Con way, i will be OTR and i know that i wont be making more 60k yearly not even staying with them for several yrs.but i dont have to pay rent, Gas to go to work..light and water bill, cable, Etc. .BUT with SNI i can get the experience and move to another company and for sure i can be making even 100k in the second or 3rd yr. may be more thats what i been reading here..

so let's see, i got only one week to make a decicion :/

Flip a coin lol.. Just kidding..A move like that is a hard decision to make for sure. Just go with what you feel is best for you and you're family. Talk it over with them and see what they think, sometimes 2 heads are better than one. I think to gain valuable tanker experience to help you open doors down the road, Texas may be a good choice for you, plus I'm sure at Sni if for some reason you decide that is not the way to go, you can go regional or otr with them as well. When you already have a mortgage and then rent on top of it, you have to think is it worth it? In the long run it just may be.
