I've never seen them on any trucks where I worked. They look nice but every drop I go to is lighted and I can see when the tank is empty without any other light. The company I worked for takes the drivers safety into account and will light an area so the driver can see all that is around him. Some places it doesn't even matter thou so they put that station on daylight delivery only. It's not perfect because I have had bullets fly over my head but at least they're thinking of the driver.

There is a station not far from me that the driver would have to call the local police and they would meet the driver there to watch over everything.. There are some rough arounds around here.

During another night around 2am a different driver had that same drop and he decided he would stop in the office to have his lunch. At that time this young kid walks into the store shoots and kills both employees. They caught the guy in 20 minutes and he said he needed crack money. What was really bad is the store manager had to clean the store and reopen as soon as possible. The company didn't want any news getting out to ruin their store name. If that driver didn't stop for lunch he would have been right there and we're sure the kid would have killed him too. Then the station was put on day-light delivery only. You never know what's going to happen and that's why we always keep ourself on high alert when outside the truck.whoopNride Thanks this. -

That quote is straight from one of their regional managers. I was a lead for Flying J when Pilot took them over. I had 3 stores, at one point 20+drivers and 17 trucks to oversee. So I had the "pleasure" of dealing with a regional leading up to the takeover . Leads for FJ basically did everything but pay the bills. Schedule, dispatch, maintenance, etc. Was a great gig. Pilot came in and cut pay drastically ( I was looking at better than a 50% cut) and they told us " we had no choice, we had to work for them". Pilot is an arrogant joke (look at they latest bs they pulled). They look at drivers as disposable. They do not care or require experience, common sense or thought. They simply want meat in the seat. They are by far the worst paying tank company. Around here they are around $16, everyone else $21+. I could go on & on about the arrogance & stupidity during the takeover. Unreal . I walked the hr they took over. So did many, many leads and hundreds of drivers.
