I'm looking to try to go with maverick after I get out of school and just wanted to see if it would be better to do regional or glass. I know regional gets you home more. But what one do you make more and what one is more Challenging. I like to have to thank on my job.:biggrin_25519:

Glass pays more per mile but may not necessarily be more per week as they can run fewer miles due to the dedicated nature of being glass. Flats can be very challenging since we can haul different things :)

Glass runs nearly everything we haul plus glass, but at the higher glass rate. A good friend running glass over the winter had absolutely no glass runs in January. All steel runs. Same miles and freight I was running but at the higher rate. Difference was he stayed out longer and I went home each week. He's running a dedicated route at the moment, but he was consistently making $1200-$1300/week without missing a beat. He's regretting being on the dedicated route now and is dropping it to go back to regular glass. A glass hauler can run 12% fewer miles for the same pay no matter what they haul. If you're in the right freight lane you are constantly on the move.

He's one of few in glass that are able to claim that. I talk to quite a few glass haulers, not just one,and they report less miles on average. Im sure recruiting can give the averages for each fleet. Glass generally on average(not a top runner) makes no more than we do,is gone from home more, must cross into Canada and the freight is more dangerous (standing glass). You want variety then go regular flats. We haul a lot of the same stuff over and over but every once in awhile a load comes along that makes you scratch your head and think about how to secure it safely. I would recommend trying to get into machinery after you get some time in but they arent home every weekend either.

Well unit #5048 is no longer in the fleet. It sits on the truck sales lot in NLR devoid of stickers.

What's the deal on blown/ flat tires? I've read and heard from people that maverick expects you to bring the bad tire back to a maverick yard. What are they used for? I asked road service if I was supposed to take it, and he said he had no idea. So I have a blown, absolutely worthless(in my opinion) tire and mudflap/mudlflap bracket strapped to my trailer. Planning on dropping them at the Madison yard on the way out tomorrow.
