Hey everyone, I am about two weeks out from getting behind the wheel and starting my O/O journey. Some of this paperwork is making my head spin.
I was wondering if y'all could help! So far I have:

    Got truck and trailer financed
    Got insurance
    Have DOT#, MC# and BOC-3
    Registerd with UCR
Starting my P5 so I can apply for my Waste Hauler Permit
    Paid for my authority
    Filed an LLC
    Filed IRS form 2290

Questions I have..Do I need a Texas DOT number and where do I obtain one?
I am going to run apportioned plates when I pick up the truck, do I go register the truck and then will they give me a cab card and set up my IRP account?
Do I need a IFTA account?

    What am I missing??

I pulled my MVR to keep on file and set up my drug screen. I just purchased my logs, my inspection reports and invoices.

I would really appreciate the help.
    Thank you in advance!

And in Texas do I also need to file intrastate authority. I will primarily be working in Texas doing oilfield work.

Questions I have..Do I need a Texas DOT number and where do I obtain one? Yes - you can do this online. Just google it, Only takes a few minutes.

I am going to run apportioned plates when I pick up the truck, do I go register the truck and then will they give me a cab card and set up my IRP account? Fill out the paperwork before you go and make sure you have everything you need. You're supposed to "prove" you have a place of business in Texas so you'll need to bring that with you (utility bill etc etc). There is an "IRP Handbook" you can print out online that pretty much tells you what to do.

Do I need a IFTA account? Yes if you're going to run out of the state. State Comptrollers office - this took me a few days to get. I think you could expedite by going in to a field office. You will also need to keep trip logs and fill out the quarterly report for IFTA.

What am I missing?? I'm pretty sure you have to have a TX tax ID before they will give you the IFTA. Just call the Comptrollers office. The people that do IFTA are super helpful (unlike the sales tax division) and will guide you on what to do.

It's been a while since I did all this so I'm probably forgetting something so hopefully someone else chimes in. Good Luck!

if you are going to be running in TX only, then you do not need apportioned plates. you do not need an mc#, you do not need IFTA. They no longer issue TXDOT #'s. It is now done through the dmv and they give you a "certificate" #. and yes, you will need that to haul from point to point within TX. you will also need a USDOT # easily obtained online.
