Ranger 2950, need help.

My new 2950 has sever background noise on transmit as heard by the receiver of the transmission. I can barely be understood because of the noise. The audio is perfect, good and loud ( the carrier) but the modulation bites.

The noise is described as my window being down at speed.

The kicker: I tried transmitting again while sitting still and the complaint was the same so it's not wind noise.

Q: Could this be electrical interference from the alternator? So what, I need a capacitor on the hot side?

Q: Could this be the antenna ? The match is good according to the radio.......

Q: Is this all the mike and will go away with a n/c mike?

Your opinion??

 

New, sealed , unmolested. Mack CH and hooked to the offered power stubs on the dash..........

 

Could but why? It would be the same.....unfiltered power to the radio. They share the same line.......

Your thinking this is an alt noise issue? What do I need to do? Have a capacitor put in line?

 

I could root arond in the fuse block and try juming on the fm radio supply line...... should be filtered, yes?

 

Oh...and the same hookup didn't bother the former occupant on the dash. ( Cobra 29 )

 

No sir, on a Mack CH the cb sets on top of the dash by design. The factory put two stubs up for cb power. They feed directly off the fuse block and share with the lighter.

I plan to try a noise canceling mike too. I just didn't want to break the seal and void the warranty and I darn sure don't want to send it back to the factory.
