I don't have any other idea where to get info on this.
Found this item put out the curb for trash. The power cord was cut off.
By the appearance it looks to be army (govmt) produced
Does this give an idea of the age?
Some tight wiring!
This must have been fun to build!
No robotic assembly there!
Mikeeee
Can you give me any info on this antique item. (non CB)

WOW! Look at those tubes! I haven't seen anything like this since the 70's. It's a voltmeter...used for measuring voltage on electronic
equipment...usually radios. -
Yes, I am old enough to be familiar with tubes. They don't "look" burnt.
I am very tempted to rewire the power cord and see what this thing will do.
But after rewiring the power, I am lost as to how to use it..

It is a VTVM ( vactum tube volt meter ) they were the standard 50 years ago I got 2 of them but never use them.Pmracing Thanks this.

Put it on eBay with a "condition unknown" and see how many start up a bidding war to get it.
Pmracing Thanks this. -
Definitely a vtvm. The meter indicates it's for measuring ac signal levels. Judging from the ranges offered, the thing has to be very sensitive. Plug it in, if it starts to smoke unplug it. I would use a variable ac supply and start it low, say at 50v and ease up from there to line voltage.
Pmracing Thanks this. -
I don't have any equipment like that.

It looks like something the military would use back in the 70's. Communication Measurement Lab is the company. They made all kinds of electronic test equipment, generators, battery chargers....
I googled it and all I could find was a manual for it. The website was down, but the manual sold for $25. So it's worth some money to someone. Who knows, someone might need one of them tubes and will pay top dollar.
Here's another seller from ebay that sells the manuals. Email him and I bet he could tell you the value.

They stop making VTVM's in the late 60's HEATHKIT had a kit but FET meters then digital ones took over ...Pmracing Thanks this.

I would be real paranoid about powering it up, not so much for the tubes but the old capacitors.
Pmracing Thanks this.
