Well being in Mass...You will get home often. We have drop yard at Leominister, Mass sp.... We do a lot of Procter and Gamble....Home depot,Lowes First Quality,Appleton Paper. I would say its about 75/80% drop and hook. We have abt 800 plus tractors and over 3,000 trailers so its about a 3:1 ratio of trailer to trucks. The good: plenty of miles, hometime, good strong trucks, decent bonus. The bad base starting pay of 35-37 cpm but they pay extra for shorthaul pay and that adds up at the end of the week...They just increase the short haul pay but the old rate was 0-100 miles 25cpm ,101-200 7cpm, and 201-300 miles 3cpm.....I am sure that rate has been increased...plus they increase stopoff pay to 20 dollars for each additional drop. The vacation pays is horrible even though you get paid vacation every 6 months its only 400 bucks. We have our on warehouses and we haul a lot stationary paper that usually have multiple drops. All in all they are not bad but not perfect either. You can makes abt 48-60k depending on how hard you run. They will run the sh#t if you like to run.....And this job is pure hustle ....lol

I think that this is not PA but the law pretty much everywhere. If you are on workers comp then the company has a right to assign you light duty for whatever you are capable of. If you turn it down they can cancel the workers comp and fire you. Two different companies I have worked for in NH and NC have done just this. As for the physical therapy, I'm pretty sure that you have the right to see the doctor of your choice not the companies. However, in this case they put you on light duty and require you to be there everyday to complete that so it seems to me to be a game the company is playing to get rid of you. Interesting.

Containerguy: You mentioned that you do dedicated for Smith. What dedicated do you do for them? I used to do the dedicated RR Donely freight but they stopped doing it. Have they resumed that program? It was paying $205.00 per day back about 5 years ago.

I just wanted to respond to this post... This message is for ALL drivers considering to drive for Smith...if you DO NOT have a family to support, a mortgage, bills etc. then Smith is the place for you...BUT, if you do have responsibilities then either pass them by or be prepared for your spouse to float the load or lose everything!! Smith runs 2 orientations per week with a 120% turn over rate (what does that tell ya?)... yes, some do get good miles. Those guys will admit to it but they are few and far between. The rest of the drivers ALL seem to have the same complaint..200.00-400.00 weekly take home, low miles = 1300 - 2500 per week. But if you are living with your folks or don't have any resposibilities.. then by all means, Smith might be good fit!
