You will see a fair bit of snow, but you won't be allowed to drive on ice with Covenant. Most of their drivers seem to come from the southern states, so the company is very conservative in winter (they'll often do stuff like reroute you to i-40 instead of taking a shorter trip on i-80). If you ever start to feel unsafe, just find a safe place to stop and send in a shutdown macro to dispatch.

As for driving tips, the key really is to plan & look way ahead and be smooth/steady. It isn't a race...

 

Hi Janice, welcome' I come from Minnesota and have never been to Florida. You'll love the snow, especially the cold that comes with it I suggest that you both buy good winter boots, gloves and hats. Do not buy cheap stuff. Look at cabelas on line, they carry good quality clothing. Also, within this great forum there is wealth of information about winter operations.

 

Well I am from the New England area and I see lots of snow and ice. The best advice I can share with you about dealing with the nasty stuff is to always be mindful of your speed. Second is to stick to the best kept roads. Secondary roads and side streets are not as safe and not as looked after as the main roads. Third is always make sure your tires and snow and ice equipment is up to snuff before heading out. Map out alternative routes for those just in case moments of accidents or road closures.
