Are any other driver's Having problem's with Knight refridgerated

    Make your concerns known and tell them you will watch to see how they respond. If they don't...bail on them. There are other companies that drivers are getting decent hometime at. Forget about all this making nice nice with the company. If Knight isn't the company for you then find one that is. The more drivers let companies crap on them, the more it will continue. The trick is finding a company that is suited for your needs.

    I agree there are other companies out there that are more driver friendly. The company my husband drives for and I'm hoping to get with has a good home time policy. My husband likes to stay out for a month at a time however, they will automatically set his home time for after 2 weeks if he didn't state otherwise. Hope things get better from your husband.

    the other thing is getting along with the dispatcher, it is best to have a good repor with them, they can stand up for you or burn you down to the ground, he just needs to talk with them don't yell or threaten them, just make sure that his voice is heard, it might even mean changing his run to accomodate him, but yes the company is out to make money and they can't do that with trucks sitting, but me being a veteran I do understand the importance of time home, in 8years 8 months I spent a whopping 1 year 11 months at home (not including the 1-2 week visits I made every 6 months or so) do I regret the time I missed with my wife and son, no, but I do miss the time that was lost.

    Just before I left Knight they told a new driver who had been out three weeks that he needed to log in at least 2600 miles a week... guess who did not give him the miles he needed... part of it boils down to each terminal is now having to foot their own expenses for that site... ele, water, etc etc... so the more miles they can get out of each driver the better they can pay their bills. I had to threaten them with deadheading from Fontanna CA to Charlotte NC because I gave them 3 weeks notice and suddenly no freight to the east... took a 3 voice mails to the HR director to get everything in.. suddenly I had the loads. I worked for them for 13 months.. the last 7 were a pain in the butt... I keep daily logs on miles and noticed my mileage going from 10,000 down to about 6000-7000 a month. So after a lot of careful thinking and looking I threaded my way back to Charlotte.. cleaned out the truck and turned it in.. they owe me about $900 still... send a list to the CEO and payroll of what I am owed and for what trips...since my terminal manager seemed not to care the last few months..

    I know some of the drivers on here may not like this bit of advice, but... I ALWAYS made a point to introduce myself to my hubby's dispatchers, and load planners. And I made it known that while he is the one driving, I do have to manage the home front, and there are just things HE has to do!

    Also, make this a HUGE point! If you have a wonderful dispatcher, tell them so, and make sure their supervisors know that they are! Be the first to say it when they do something right! If they get him home on time for an important occasion, call them and say "thank you"! If you appreciate something they did, TELL THEM!!!

    This way, when you DO have an issue come up... they are not going to be able to say you are a whiner.

    Believe it or not folks, just that one small thing gets me what I need from dispatchers more often than not!

    And there is one Lady out there, who still has a card taped to her computer because she was so sweet with my hubby when his Dad passed on. She says every time she sees it, she smiles.

    This is true. I guess dispatching is a rather thankless job. If you're a dispatcher and you bend over backwards for drivers, you may not be appreciated and may even be taken for granted. No one will know your name or give you a second thought.

    But piss someone off even a teeny amount and see what happens.

    If your dispatcher is good, tell him/her. Let him or her know he or she is appreciated.

    I'm def. going to have to keep that in mind. I swore that I would do it bc I didn't want to interfere with his workplace, but you're right.
