Yeah I haven't quit CRE yet, I'm gonna make sure I have another job lined up first. I prefer not to drive for CRE because they above this leasing crap down your throat and there are several class action lawsuits against them for their leasing practices so I will not lease and they tell you there is a 4 to 8 week waiting period to get a company truck. I am hoping things work out with PAM but there are other companies I am looking into as well.

I read comments like your's all the time Hawkeye. But I get confused when I read what a few current England drivers tell us. (See below) ------------------

They sure do BatMan. And the Sons-0-Chester are no exception. When it comes to selecting trainees, C.R.E. is especially good at choosing those who don't have the knowledge, experience or financial resources to get a small business off the ground and rollin'.

Who forces the Sons-0-Chester to continue accepting trainees for their lease adventure when all indicators point to certain failure?
Who forces the Sons-0-Chester to over-glamorize what they have to offer to entice wannaBees and newBees to "be their own boss"?
WannaBees and newBees don't know any better, and believe (trust) what they're told.
On the flip side of the coin, the Sons-0-Chester do know better.
    Obviously, they don't care.
After all, they have armed guards and metal detectors at C.R.E.
Something the other Big truck truckin' companies don't have 'cause they don't need 'em.
Why do y'all 'spose that is?

Yeah, ---- that's what I was thinkin' too.
    :smt112

    Hmmmmmm ------
    That's a tough one.
I'd venture to say because there are only a few, and of those few most are too arrogant to ever consider associating with those they consider to be low-life, low-brow, knuckle draggin' half-wits. Pretty much the same way as the Sons-0-Chester.
All work and no play makes Johnny a dull driver.
Who forces them to run that hard?
You're not gonna tell us they run that hard purely because they want to, are you?
HaiL! They're so busy bein' too busy to post in forums to be aware that the internet even exists, let alone actually contributing to any forum.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the Sons-0-Chester are countin' their profits while Joe SixSpeed counts his losses, --- and the bald tires on the wheels that can't afford to stop rollin'.
Sounds like the dispatchers are droppin' the ball if a Big truck truck (leased) driver has any sittin' around time.
Maybe you can't, but many can, --- and do.

    FYI:
Over the last ten (plus) years there have been waayyy more than "50ish" drivers who have related similar stories about C.R. England, --- and that's not counting other websites or court records that illustrate a distinct pattern of shady, underhanded unethical business practices.
Who forces the Sons-0-Chester to deceive?

C.R.E. recruiter to disgruntled C.R.E. trainee: I realize that's what you heard me say,
But what you don't seem to realize is what I meant when you heard me say what I said when I said it.

My husband drives for C R England and I ride along. Here is what I have to say about CRE. At first it was BAD! And I mean really bad. We were getting negative pay checks every week and living off the $100 advance for food, needs, ect. But I blame this on inexperience. You have to learn the tricks to the trade. Biggest key factor is fuel! When to buy, where to buy, and how much to buy. We now receive paychecks every week. Some have been VERY nice.. especially coming from a solo driver perspective. We do not have experience with any other companys to compare so there may be better out there. I don't really know. So in the beginning we were ready to ditch the truck and walk away and just cut our losses. But now that we have gained experience and learned the best ways to be productive and lucrative, we really like CRE. My recommendation is if you are going to drive Solo then go company. If you absolutely must lease a truck, then you should look into training or team driving. That is where the money is. But from personal experience with a solo driver leasing.. it CAN be done.. it's just harder. Hope this helps :)

Excuse the dumb question, AfterShock. What is "Sons-0-Chester"? I know you mean CRE, but where does Sons-0-Chester come in?

    AfterShock Thanks this.

I can answer this one. He means that CRE is owned and ran by the descendants of the companies founder who's first name was in fact Chester.

Thanks, Rizen. This is a very informative thread, like AfterShock writes: "entertainment". AfterShock sets the record straight.

ThanX for fielding the question for me in my absence Rizen.
    I appreciate that.

Wisc-Badger, the dumbest questions are the questions not asked.
And for the record, Rizen's answer is correct.
As for settin' the record straight, read on and let the entertainment begin, ...................

Chester R. England founded C.R. England in 1920.
    Today, Daniel England is President/Chairman.
    Dean England is C.E.O.,
Todd England is Executive VP, and
Corey England is also a VP.

The family that trucks together, ................. uhhhhhh .....
I better leave that to your imagination. :smt112

C.R. England is a West Valley City, Utah based refrigerated Big truck truckin' and transportation company,
one of the largest in the United States.
The company is private, family owned.

    Carl Moyes and the Knights:

Carl Moyes was a Big truck truck driver for C.R. England in the 1940's, and his two sons, Jerry and Ron were childhood friends with Jeff England, son of Gene and grandson of Chester England.
Carl left C.R. England to start his own company with his wife, Betty, --- B&C Truck Leasing.
Carl and Betty later employed the Knight cousins to drive for them.

Maude Knight married Chester R. England in 1916.

Carl and his two sons moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1966, and founded Common Market, the company that later became Swift Transportation in 1969.
Brothers Kevin and Keith Knight and their cousins Randy and Gary Knight, who also moved to Phoenix and worked for Swift, then founded Knight Transportation in 1990.
Jeff England founded Pride Transportationin 1979 in Salt Lick City, Utah.

And now y'all know more than y'all did before I started typin' this post.

    From the Book of England

    Chapter 1

    1. For Chester shall beget the Sons-o-Chester
and that shall be called after the islands of England
    2. From the Sons-o-Chester shall come forth the Jeff and
he shall be filled with Pride.
    3. The Sons-o-Chester shall also beget the Moyes and they
    shall indeed be Swift.
    4. From the Swift shall come another who is of the Central but
    once was of the Dick.
    5. And from the Swift shall spring forth the Kevin
and he shall be as a Knight.
    6. And they will be known by the book they read on
Sunday and the manner which they keep, which is not unlike
the made men in the new city of york.
