Anyone know of any companies in the Cleveland, OH area that do this type of work? I have seen nothing about LTL or Intermodel in the area.

Question, I have about a years exp but the last time I drove was in 2005. I went to take a refresher course in august of 2010 and passed with flying colors. However every company I've applyied with says I need to do otr first. What companies do you think I have a chance at getting hired with.

Go to one of those online job search sites and look for one of the companies that require x amount of driving EXPERIENCE.
They are out there, they are mostly smaller companies, which is good because you can look the resposible people in a smaller company in the eye and say " I can do this job and I'm willing to be trained to do it the way you want it done"
    Good luck

If you look in the jobs section i think Saia is looking for people down in Richfield, also seems to me Conway in Parma was also looking. Pretty sure Sysco over by the airport was hiring. Sysco is a Teamsters Co. very good benefits.

Ltl is a lot of air freight, check the trucking companies servicing the air port.

I came late to the party on this one but I definately want to thank the OP for bringing this up. I too bought in to the myth from school and company recruiters that I couldn't work locally without a year otr. Today, however, I'm working locally for a good company and home every night without having even completed my initial 28 days OTR. Depending on where you live, the jobs are more than likely out there, and if you spend enough time pounding the pavement, you'll find something. I just wish I'd known all this before I signed their contract, but hey, thats life...
