I compared the cost of going to an area driving school -- $2,500 - $3,900 then, find a job vs going Prime and getting trained in a real world enviorment. I chose Prime.
Even if I had the money for school, I would't spend it. With school, it's 4 - 6 weeks without pay just to get your CDL. With Prime, you can get your CDL in about 3-4 weeks while at least
getting an ~$200 weekly advance that comes out of future pay. Best advice is get your CDL permit and all endorsements before you arrive. DTB does a good job of answering the pay question in this thread.

There are schools that allow students to learn at there own pace. The school I attended in '04 said it was up to a six week course but you could test, get your CDL, and go get a job as fast as you like. It only took me 12 calender days.

At the Campus Inn on the 4th day of orientation. Things are going good so far. Hoping to have a truck and be out of here this weekend.

Don't fall asleep in class. Show up on time (that means EARLY). Don't call the simulators "video games."
Your pay scale depends on what division you are in.

ok sounds good. I'm just a little worried because I have a high level misdemeanor on my record. Prime has OK'd it, or at least my recruiter has, but I don't know how it's gonna work with the TWIC card. SWIFT OK'd my charge just to send me back home 3 days into training because of it. I just don't want to go all the way to MO from AL on a bus just to have to ride back on one.

What DTB said. Also your being interviewed the entire time, dress accordingly. Be respectful. And dont ask where the quarters go....
