I started my driving career with SNI in 1991. I started just after the CDL came into being. Back then their training was 18 weeks. I was at their West Memphis terminal. For a newbie you could do worse than SNI. They have a thorough training program and they will not advance you if they are not comfortable with your skills. Just listen and don't argue and you'll get through it fine. I have almost 3 million accident free miles, so they must have trained me right. I heard their training is different now. GOOD LUCK!

Day 2
We just did some classroom stuff before going in the yard to brush up on pre trip and coupling. Afterwards we drove around south Dallas for three hours.
On my way home my TE called and introduced himself. Sounded like a nice guy, he seemed generally excited to get going which gives me alot of anticipation. I learned we will be leaving out of Lawton,OK , heading to Kansas, then Arkansas, back to the metroplex, then Tulsa before i come home and do my final skills assessment at the OC here in Dallas. At which point I will be assigned my truck. I'll keep everyone posted!
The account I'm training on is the DG account. Should be good experience.Hatley Thanks this. -

US MARINE- I asked some questions to experienced Schneider drivers and from what I've been told it seems as if their choice program is one of the best in the industry. I also asked my instructors about the amount of owner ops and they have told me that its one of the better carriers to be an owner op with.
Hope this helps !US MARINE Thanks this. -
Days 3 and 4 were both spent driving the city streets of dallas. Good experience especially during rush hour traffic!

My husband just finished his first week of orientation up in Green Bay-it has been an experience! First, we thought he was going to catch a Greyhound in our town. No. We had to drive about 45 minutes to the terminal in South Bend. At first, we were told he would arrive in Green Bay around 6:30 Monday night which would have given him plenty of time to get settled in the hotel and rest for school at 7:00 on Tuesday. When we went to pick up the tickets, we found out that there was to be many hours of layover during the trip, the longest was between Milwauke and Green Bay-almost four hours. He finally checks into the hotel at 12:10 AM. Good thing he was running on adrenalin!

The week went fast and furious, but instead staying at orientation for the 18 days like we originally thought, they had him and three other guys drive a rental from Green Bay to the Gary OC. (The rental was a BEAUTIFUL Nissan Altima, black, shiny as heck!)
I drove the almost 2 hour drive to pick him up and got to see the OC while we waited for the guys to get in. We got back home about 9 PM and he had all day with us today (Sunday).
Tomorrow, we have to be back up in Gary by 8 AM, their time, (we are in a different time zone) for him to go out with his TE (training engineer) for a week. (Maybe.) After that, we just aren't sure yet. We know he has to get back up to Green Bay for his last week there. Been thrown a lot of curves, but having a lot of fun! We figure they are just getting us familiar with life as a truck driver!
He is so excited to go out and experience life on the road with his TE. The guy sounds pretty cool!
We got him all packed and ready to go...
