When my parents dropped me at college they stopped on the way home and ordered a sectional sofa and TV for my room.
We turned spare rooms into offices and have 5-people working here from 7-6.
Just have to only leave a hard floor or sofa as only sleeping options.

No need. Ohio gives for free a handy Excel spreadsheet every quarter to fill out your info. Then, print it and copy the numbers over to your IFTA return. Real simply as it cross-references all your numbers to make sure nothing is amiss. It also is updated to all the correct quarterly tax rates and handles the surcharges for IN, KY, etc.BigBadBill Thanks this. -
Bill I thought so, I think that is what I said in my OP just not so elegantly.

Thanks for this.
You can also use this spreadsheet to do "what if's", based on mileages in your "usual state" (to see how it's actually going to look for you) - looking at the states tax rate (which usually doesn't CHANGE all that much percentage-wise - but just goes up or down based on the average price per gallon for that qtr).
The larger (potential) burden of the IFTA stuff (besides possible owing a couple of bucks per qtr), is the RECORD KEEPING REQUIREMENTS. You have to be pretty meticulous about it - and are required to keep all records for the previous 3 years in case of an audit. Screw around with it, catch an audit and have discrepancies found - and the interest and penalties can be way more costly than just doing it correctly the first time around...

You're putting yourself on punishment indirectly with a withholding tactic. But then you probably already know that, right? LOLbullhaulerswife Thanks this.

You guys are lightweights. Bill knows the story with this and subtle clues are scattered in my post count. I'm looking forward to having "he was a good Dad" being etched on my tombstone when I finally stroke out. At least I'll be getting caught up on my rest LOLbullhaulerswife Thanks this.

You taking away my light at the end of the tunnel? Sheesh man. They never really leave, do they?
RedForeman Thanks this.
