I like the Rhodes Travel Center, exit 91 off of I-55 in Scott City, Missouri. They have probably the friendliest staff I have ever met, clean showers, a Huddle House restaurant, and amazing doughnuts.

@ Packard48, I really don't know if the food has changed or not, I haven't been that way eversince I was team driving with my brother-in-law back in 2004-2006. I would imagine if they want to keep building on a good foundation that was already established, that the would continiue with what really made the truckers happy but I don't know.

Gary Ind TA has armed security 24/7 inside. I guess that's supposed to make you feel safer as you walk back out to your truck. I never had any trouble there day or night but it is rough. The most trouble that I've had in my travels has been out in Carlisle Penn. There are 3 truck stops there and it's a major crossroad, lots of people stop there regularly. Had my fifth wheel lock pulled; pig tail pulled from tractor; had both fuel shut off valves closed. The truck stops are decent and clean, no problems there. It's just the fellow people around you for whatever reason. These are all simple things that you will always catch on your pre-trip inspection if you're actually doing one. The company that I used to drive for must have some highly irritated ex drivers out there who want to get even or something; it's the only thing that makes sense. They can't have a beef with me; just the company name on tractor door and on side of trailer. I don't know why but Carlisle PA has been the biggest pain the in butt for me believe it or not.

If anyone has mentioned the TA on the south side of Atlanta, Conley I believe, that is the one place I will never go back to, but I had heard they closed it down anyways.
There was also another stop on the highway between Dallas and Houston, that was so nasty with crickets everywhere, even in the showers, and the fuel pump was so slow, the place should be bulldozed do the ground.
For some reason, I have always felt safest at a Petro. Maybe it's the green colors, and they way they keep their lot nice and smooth. I've always felt the most unsafe at a TA, among the chains. -
