Often wondered why ye don't have them for city deliveries and minicaple trucks as well as general delivery trucks, they would make alot more sense in these applications, I know you're not going to get an American trucker out of his conventional for otr operations but they do have their place!
-
I didn't mention Daf.
And they are the same price when new???????
I think you need to look at the prices again,Scania's are very high $$$.
Volvo to Scania 12500$
Daf to Scania 25000$
So the little more resale value, you have allready paid when you bought them new.
I don't like to drive FH Volvo's,in fact their salesrep doesn't even need to bother coming to my house.(i hate that cab,it is awfull)
But to say they don't pull heavy loads????
That they don't last???
Even dough i don't like to drive them,i will be honest and give them credit for their good sides.
The reason i don't like most off your posts is your tunnelvision.
I have a friend who has a V8.
Yes it runs long.(engine has 1 200 000km=800 000miles)
But what you don't mention is that when the V8 goes over the million kilometer mark(around 700 000miles),if you then don't overhaul most off it,it's fuel economy has become that low that is more expensive to keep it then buying a new Iveco/Mercedes/Volvo.
So where is the profit in that?
Oh,and before i forget...............we had Scania's...............never again.
The Renault's (yes those French cheap trucks) were better, ran cheaper and lasted as long.
And here's another fact for you.
Another friend off mine .
Scania with a 6 in line engine.
His words,not mine:"i can outpull any V8"
Another fact
With a Scania V8 your payload goes down with nearly 2000lbs.
Because that is how heavy that engine is.
So to anyone in the USA thinking about a Scania V8............better think again(unless you live in the few states that allow higher weights) -
Still can't figure out how DAF do so well!
-
Ivan,you are in the Balkans.
And i do not doubt you but the prices you quote , most off then are much higher here.
Scania's G and R are not below 90000€ here.
Scania V8..........not below 105 000€(basic cab)
Only the Iveco and Daf prices are in the same area as yours. -
I'm sorry but a 480 DAF is almost €2000 euro more expensive than a 480 Scania , here in ireland a 2005 Scania will fetch you 25,000-30,000, same year DAF- 6,000 -6,500, a little resale value???
Never said I don't like the Volvo in fact quiet the opposite!
Yes the v8 does get a little harder on fuel around that mileage but it's a simple matter of re-adjusting the tappets, kept most of mine with much more mileage than that and still out-performed the new DAFS on fuel, on average 1mpg better, don't really know what you're on about anyway, neither of my DAFS made 350,000 miles before full rebuilds, they were absolutely worn out, rings and liners all has to be replaced, also had lots of problems with those zf boxes, not to mention valve problems and the front brakes locking on at will.
Renaults lasting longer?? Think u undermined your whole argument there!!
No it doesn't go down 2000Lbs, it's barely 1000lbs, get your facts straight! -

Ivans prices are right, they are the same here!!daf105paccar said: ↑Ivan, you are in the Balkans.

Scania r500 v8 Topline basic spec 4*2 is 96,000euro, can be purchased in holland from a non Scania dealer for 83,000 euro

Oh yeah DAF, we've already established that they would be too heavy for the US Market!
