I can't say I can't get mileage with them. I have several weeks well over 3300 miles a week.
It kind of bites that you get pulled forward 2 hours every night when you run your 11 hour clock out and then take a 10 hour break. You can really end up sleeping when you should be driving and driving when you should be sleeping quickly in less than a week.
But hey, you can do that with paper too.
This week showed one of the TRUE ADVANTAGES of e-logs to me though.
Friday, Jun 22, I got a letter in the mail from the Sioux City IA police department. It would seem their speed camera/radar clocked me doing 66 mph in a 55 mph zone that also happens to be the construction zone on I29 in Sioux City.
THIS IS GONNA HURT.....Right?
Not at all.
It dawned on me that my company has records tracking my every time, place and speed with the qualcomm.
Phone call to dispatch on Saturday morning and we are seeing at the same exact time stamp as the speeding ticket, it shows me exactly at the same location as the camera says I am.
With ONE small difference.
Elog says I am doing 56 mph. ALL the way through Sioux City IA.

WHY is this so important to ANYONE who drives?
Because others have been getting ticketed with this thing. Not just in Sioux City, but all OVER the country. Run by a company that is out of Columbus Ohio from what I can see on the ticket as well as other locations.

Had I NOT had e-logs, I would have been stuck for a $168 speeding ticket that was NOT correct. And there is NO WAY I could have fought it. "Their machine is not wrong." It would seem that the Sioux City PD is finding out they have malfunctioning machines.
Tonight I got the email stating that my ticket was being dismissed and I would be getting a letter in the mail to that effect too.
MODS;
Feel free to move this as it's also some SERIOUS Legal issues as well.
How bad do e-logs really suck?

I'm glad you beat the charge! But why would they trust your technology over theirs ? I don't think cameras should be able to generate tickets. Where is my tin foil hat.

E-logs are a legal binding document as well.
You "certify" that they are true and correct each day. They are a sworn statement in a court of law. Not just e-logs either. Paper logs as well. It's part of the reason "falsifying your log" is such a looked down upon thing by LEO.
It would come down to a pissing match between the two companies really. And I would have Qualcomm in there to defend their system. -
Well I'm just curious how did they know you were driving that truck if its a company truck and sent it directly to you sorry but I just had to ask
-
My company originally got the information.
The responded to them that I was the driver at that time. -
Oh idk this country just keeps getting worse now sending speeding tickets in the mail! Well there's a plus for elogs least you got the ticket dropped
