Unless there is no other way to get to a shipper or consignee, I avoid the toll roads. I figure that I am already paying fuel taxes for those miles, I won't pay extra to run the toll roads. I have not been on the Pennsylvania tollroad in years. It is easier to run a few extra miles than pay the tolls. I wish more people would stay off the toll roads and then they might come down. If you calculate the cost of running those toll roads, it is much more expensive than the fuel taxes and a few extra miles in many cases.

Sometimes you gotta do, what ya gotta do.
BTW, 80 to 99 to 322 to 81 to 83 to the turnpike is not bad running. I've done it many a time. Never sat down and measured it, but mileage and time I believe would be very close to running the turnpikes between Youngstown and Harrisburg.

the good thing about running the Ohio toll road is the fact that you get free showers and secure parking and dependent upon what plaza, good food. Not a lot to choose from on the other roads(nice scenery) but then i don't run up there that much. I accidently learned about the free showers, which are clean and large and secure, last year or so.The one good thing about ohio imho.just kidding.haven't really had any probs up there and run around 70 mph on the interstates.Oh yeah,on the ohio toll roads you can run a legal 70 mph.

hwy 33,off I71, east to 127 north is CRAWLING w/dot around those rest areas.i was scared to turn my head and look as i was going by them.there were that many.just an FYI.

I prefer running 30 when I go across Ohio. I have also run 20. There are a few places where you can get a decent meal that has truck parking. For the most part it is good running and 4 lanes. I don't usually run 70, even when that is the posted speed. I usually run around 60-65 mph. It saves fuel and there is little difference in travel time.
