Yep, those were the days of hometime and great money.
I got my training in 76 when we had the tree chopping incident in Korea. Up for 4 days on alert. Slept for 36 hours afterward.

After that, 24 and 36 hours were my limit.

did grain and fertilizers for awhile in California for a ranch, ran 14 hr days, the 70 hr rule with logs, 2 to 3 loads a day were possible, 4 if everything fell in place correctly which was rare, though 2 loads was a bad day for me. The wait time on loading/unloads ate up time, it also depends on where pick up and delivery is and how familiar one is with the area. I did blocks on my logs accounting for what was done as requested by the company. However, the company/ranch did more than grain/fertilizers and traveled to Oregon and Nevada as well.
In my mind on local work, 3 loads are in grasp depending on where and how long at each point in a 14 hour day or less, I did log private lands as requested by the company -
The poster does have it figured out properly for California. 1 thing I would say especially hauling wood chips (hog fuel) If you get paid by the weight see what the max your allowed under special provisions. Maine is now 100,000 With 6 axle setups which are most common chip set ups. As long as it doesn't violate spring thaw laws and if its over posted weight then temps must be below 28 degrees. Make a little more money and possibly turn 3 loads of 44,000Lbs into 2 loads of 70,000Lbs, work less but get paid the same or 1/3 more

I wish I could, but I drive for a small "Mom and Pop" logging company and he doesn't have the proper permits for the extra weight or the drop axles even if he did. We are in a very small Northern California comunity and the two commercial bears up here know all the local traffic so not much wool can be pulled over their eyes as far as we are concerned. We're hauling juniper and get payed % of the load which doesn't add up to squat, but it keeps me busy and out of trouble. Being out of the seat for seven+ years, this is the only guy who would give me the time of day. Gotta earn my bones again, and it aint going to be with one of the megga corps.

mass theyre running 99,000 on 5 axle set ups with proper permits
