well i'll go ahead and admit it.you actually lost me w/this post.I've never had to choose between not showering for a week or not killing someone.
I have had many weeks out of over 2 decades that i did not make $1000 but i always found the time and the means to take a shower while NOT waiting a week to do so.i've asked for coupons, back during pre-loyalty card times, asked the fuel desk staff for one, paid out of pocket, and then used a loyalty card/points. Very high on my priority list is good personal hygiene and I will go out on a limb and say that all the shippers and consignees appreciated that very fact over all the years, inclusive of the DOT and Public Service Commision people that have climbed up into my cab.
Thanks for giving me yet something else to heavily ponder- shower or kill?

My post was directed at .5 after 12 for complaining that some drivers don't take showers every day because their trucks are too slow and they have to bust arse to get to their customer because they work for a crappy company. In fact, I think he was directing that towards me.
My truck is governed at 69.
Oh - and as far as your signature, "Please allow faster traffic to pass. Thank you in advance."
Do you realize what you're saying there? If the speed limit is 65 mph and someone is going 65mph in the right lane, you DO NOT HAVE the right to pass them legally, since you would be breaking the speed limit law by doing that. I'm not saying I don't pass, sure, but you do it at your own risk, and take responsibility for any consequences that brings - and you don't get on someone's tail in the left lane if they only want to go 68 or 69 in the right lane. But you're also supposed to stay in the right lane on normal highway conditions unless you are passing someone.
"Slower traffic keep right" means that anyone going 60 or so, or less, in a 65mph zone, should keep right. -

Is that in a statute somewhere or is it simply an arbitrary number you have picked?

Ok so the shower thing is beat to death.
I will comment on the passing part. Your problems with running through Chicago are legit. I wonder if all of those "drivers" are really legal. What I do have a problem with is trying to leave following distance and someone truck or car it hasn't mattered will take your space and you back off and some other numb skull pulls the same stunt. Also a real problem is running down open interstate passing line of traffic and some slow truck like your 69mph truck would be included, signals quick and pulls right out in front of me. Then its on the binders load shifting to the front trying to push me into your backside. Look in the mirrors at traffic coming up behind you and try to judge how fast they are coming. This happens alot. Then I spend 2 miles waiting for the slower truck to get out of the way and try to get back up to speed. It gets real irratating.
BoyWander Thanks this. -
Somehow this became a shower thread.
So, besides the showering what about the other bad habits the OP listed?
IMHO, tailgating is the one that I believe causes more bad public perception than any. And yes, there are cars that tailgate us. But we are suppose to be the professionals. I see trucks tailgating every day. If you are tailgating, how do you see the big picture? You have to keep your eyes glued to that back bumper. One brake check away from the end of your career and possible jail time.
Now as far as the 55 mph on the south side of Chicago....... I see your points, and respect your decision to go 55. Can you please do it in the right lane?DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
actually turned out to be a diverse thread and i am not necessarily diverse, politically speaking anyway.showering to not showering to waiting until a faster truck is right there to jump in front of it to individual interpretation of speed limit signs to fairly accurate depictions of invalid argument attempters, etc.
Pretty cool.sevenmph Thanks this. -
"individual interpretation of speed limit signs"
hahahahahahaha that about says it all. -
Truckers just need to put the #### cell phones down. i swear someday ill have a container into the side of one pretty soon, I know for a fact the container will have less damage than your truck. Its just getting #### stupid out there.

I don't mind people talking on their phones as long as they are driving straight. I'd rather people use the bluetooth headsets.
I will occasionally text on my phone when traffic is clear, but I don't write novels, just a sentence, and I'm pretty good at texting.
I once had another truck pass me in SC with his laptop in his lap. I called 911 on that one.
I have also called 911 on a truck driver who was swerving all over the road at night, and another time on a car that was swerving around at night. The former probably tired, the latter probably drunk.
