Hang in there Crazy D. Sure would be nice to know the name of this produce guy after it's over and done. Sounds like everybody needs to put this brokers name in their do not carry list.
Fricken livid!!!!

I wish it had worked that way Rick. However to add to the story it took 7 hours to get those melons off my truck. I was paid a whopping 100 bucks extra for the whole catastrophe. At this point I have just cut my losses and considered it as a lesson learned. Needless to say although my Michigan broker can be a bit on the low side from time to time. It's worth not having the headaches. Sometimes it is what it is.

Wondering why people are assuming it is double brokered? Everything I read here is you have a produce broker (for all intents and purposes in this business the direct customer) and a freight broker. When did a second freight broker ever get mentioned in this thread?

Ingot a load of melons on now and set it at 65 that's what the shipper said. Or I could have enter it but I couldn't reach the top vent and it has a cable seal on it. But overall this melon load is going way better than a chicken load. I loaded yesterday in about an hour and was out.

Looks like two brokers to me. I don't see how one would be doing this out of the kindness of his heart. Two brokers paid on one load = double brokered. And, yet again, the driver that does the actual work doesn't get paid properly. Bet both of those brokers got their money.BigBadBill Thanks this.

I think its because he refered to the shipper as the "produce broker" .... I ran refer for 10years and never heard of a produce broker so I was a little confused so I assume he either meant the shipper or maybe the bird dog?BigBadBill Thanks this.

Ah, OK, only single truck broker. Produce Broker is term used for sales people in this industry. This is not double brokered. But it does sound like a couple of poor business people.kajidono Thanks this.

their main goal is get a truck there, they care not about any other details. fact is the deal was spelled out before the load was picked up, even though it wasnt what was on the confirmation. the hand-writing was on the wall. now you know why the load paid 400 more to begin with.
