Good meeting you in Baltimore today Rob. Hope you got through DC before the traffic got bad.

I got TW'd up to Pedricktown, NJ where the Paulsboro terminal will be relocating to I'm told. It will be an improvement since it's not nearly so crowded there.

I load in Philly in the AM and head down to Raeford, NC for a Thursday delivery, then probably home to Atlanta. I can't seem to stay out more than 4 or 5 days at a time here lately.

Unaleaver in Raeford is not bad. Most of the time its a drop hook if they have an empty. I was pretty happy the way things worked out. I hit Hopewell Va right at 5:15 so I missed the worst of the traffic. When you come around the DC 495 beltway tomorrow be sure and take the local side(stay right) of the split after the drawbridge. Both sides back up but the express side was twice as bad this afternoon.

$taying out is a good deal for the direct deposit for sure. But I am ready to sleep in my own bed at home after this last round. Been out since the 6th or 7th(my choice). Days run together after a while too. Hope nobodys running across I-10 thru FL.If so,You better bring your water wings and be prepared to detour in several spots E of I-75. Debby dropped over 20 inches in some spots and that area is swampy anyway even without a TS.

I hear you. My bed slept pretty good last night. Dispatch called this morning wanting to know If I wanted to run a dedicated loading Friday in either N Chicago or Plaquemine La. I need to be home Saturday for my wife's parents 60th anniversary. I agreed to cook barbecue for the party. Pretty sure I would have wound up on I-10 on the back side of Debbie had i said yes. Hurts to pass up that money but 5 days at home feels pretty good too.

Also I finally have a new truck. Going to move in Thursday or Friday. Mixed feelings about it. Everyone tells me the new ones break down more than the old ones. Mine has been in the shop pretty regularly so I hope that isn't the case. At least i will be more comfortable for the sitting. The biggest difference I noticed the one night I spent in a new one was how quiet they are. Looking forward to that.

Good luck with your new one Rob. As I mentioned to you Tuesday mine has been in the shop several times. And it seems the mechanics at the International dealers are very slow. The one near Pasadena had mine for a month doing some major engine work.

And here I sit in Kenly, NC with my windows open and an electric fan running cause my AC has failed! It would happen as we're experiencing some of the hottest weather, sheesh!

That sucks. Sounds like a good excuse for a hotel room to me.

When I was at the International dealer one day I was talking to them about the Maxx Force being junk. He said the biggest problem is the driver. These engines are very sensitive. They do not like high RPM's. He said that there is no reason that it should ever be over 1500 RPM's, but they continually see the ECM readings of 1800 or even 2100. This apparently makes the engines fall apart. He said to shift between 1000-1250 as much as possible. I guess the engines are made for high torque with low RPM's. Don't know myself since I don't have one. Just thought I'd pass along what I was told incase it's true. Maybe it will help stay out of the shop. Good luck with them for all who have one.

More parts = more problems. My pete doesnt like high rpm's either. Like you say, progressive shifting is the way to run em thats for sure. One of the issues at these shops might be: did they actually train enough mechanics on the newer technology before rolling them out? Now a days you need to be able to spin a wrench, diagnose and be a computerologist to complete the task. Parts changers are a dime a dozen and good mechanics are probably getting as scarce as truck drivers. How many kids out of high school want to drive or wrench on a big truck?

Yeah, that's the problem, there are no mechanics these days. There are only parts changers based off what the computer said was wrong and needed to be changed. If the computer doesn't tell them what's wrong, then there isn't anything wrong. Its just all in the driver's imagination.
