Had a 2005 PB 387 in yesterday with a complaint of trans & frt drive axle overheating. Driver wanted gear oil changed. He showed me what the gages were doing and there were small red diodes blinking intermittently like wig-wags on a cop car. Further questioning of the driver also revealed that the gages spiked to high temp then dropped & quit working within the last 24 hrs prior to coming into our shop. A visual inspection of the gearcases turned up a broken-off trans temp sender & a disconnected frt drive axle temp sender. Gearbox level check & oil condition showed low oil in both trans & frt drive axles & that the oil was in definite need of draining & replacing. Installed new sender on trans, reconnected sender on frt drive axle, changed oil in all 3 gearboxes, & problem solved. I contacted my local pete delaership regarding the wig-wagging diodes and was advised that it could be a bad interface module. Any idea where this module is and how mch of a PITA is it to change out? I am asking this for future reference & training of my fellow techs here at my shop in case it happens again.

BAD:
On my 2006 387, I think the gauge interface module is under the dash against the interior firewall somewhere behind the radio and I'm guessing that yours is around there as well. I have also attached a link below to an eBay ad that has a picture of one in case you don't know exactly what you're looking for.
Also, the gauge system in my truck was made by Ametek Dixson (yours probably was also) and on their web site they have a trouble shooting manual available and I have also included a link to that below.
I hope this helps.

I'm not sure where it is in a 387 but in a 379 it is inside the center of dash below the music radio. Black box about a foot long ,six or eight inches wide two inches thick. You could probably buy hand tools to help change out that interface module. I think I got mine from terminalsandconnectors.com. Hope that helps.

Interface module is on the inside of the left frame rail just behind the transmission.
