Does anyone know a good way to accurately measure wattage on various cb equipment and amplifiers that I have?
I was thinking a dummy load wattage meter, but I don't know what to use.
CB shops are hard to come by, it seems.
Any suggestions?

If anyone knows a reputable shop near Phoenix or Pittsburgh, PA let me know. That or I might stop by ABQ there's a shop at the Flying J.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Especially if anyone knows of an inexpensive piece of equipment I could pick up.
Do those dual SWR/Watt meters you can buy at truck stops work? I see they have settings for 10 and 100 watts, but not sure how to read them.
Thanks in advance for helping this CB rookie out! -
Bird meter is the most accurate way

That's cool. I take it a reputable CB shop would probably have one. I'm not really sure how else to find one.

Any good cb shop should have.you can buy one but there a little pricey.you can buy a cheap watt/ swr meter also just not quite as accurate as bird meter
Smaggs Thanks this. -

Although it is not the best, this is what I have and it seems to do ok for the most part. Best of all it cost me about 30ish bucks at Radioshack. http://cbradiomagazine.com/SWR%20&%20Power%20Meter%20Reviews/21-534%20SWR%20Meter/21-534%20Radio%20Shack%20SWR%20Meter.htm

Smaggs, if you do a google search for CB field strength meter, there are meters that receive an over the air signal and provide a reading. Not sure that is what you are looking for. There are also meters that in any number of combinations display SWR, watts, modulation and field strength. As a reference as to some of what equipment is available and their price you could look at www.gijoeselectronics.com at least to have a reference point.
