My Experience as a Line Haul Driver

all depends what you looking for..i've been here what...2.5 months and i got my very own bid run today.....so yea theres bad, but theres some good too.

i got called in early today 730am (im always there by then anyway but i let them think i was doing them a favor...

The guy that does the nashvile run, the was suposed to take me their the other day to get a truck, quit like he told me he was on tuesday, so I was givin his Bid run, so now my start time is 730am and i will be running from Charlotte to Dandridge, TN and back every day, very easy, shortish run 410 miles, and i still get to pull sets. I pulled a 15,000lb and a 13,000lb pups up there today....I-26 7% grade and the Gourge kinda slowed me down but them sleepers are fast and have some power so i was ok. Then on the way back i had a van with 1,600lbs in it lol

k so interesting day.

Started out great, got MY truck, hooked my set in under 20min, then sat in line to fuel for 40 minutes...

Then i head out on My run to TN. And im going threw the gorge right at the TN/NC line i see a White Freightliner Columbia Fronend with a huge RV looking back end, with a 5th wheel pulling a Carhauler.....Yep it was my dad! lol

Anyhoo so i talked to him once i got to the meet in dandridge while i was waiting (my dad had stopped at the TA) and he was telling me about the race. Im assumeing most of you saw all this on TV, or you should have at least seen my dad on TV anyway. Apparently the Idiot that drives the #99 truck decided that 4 bottles of water in 12 hours when its 110* OUTSIDE was ok, so he had a little heat related issue in the truck. He called in on the radio "im feeling dizzy" WHILE UNDER CAUTION, but STILL continued to pass pit road...

Next time by he comes in and Pukes inside of his helmet....yummy!

So this is when you should have seen my dad, he was the first one to attempt to get the driver out of the truck on pit road, he quickly did an about face when the smell hit him and had someone else try. The drivers legs had locked up so they had to carry him to the medic cart (once they got him out) and then they had to convince another driver to get in the puke filled truck to finish the race lol


Anyway then i did my swap, came back, unloaded both pups, sweapt out the trailers in 105* heat, then came home at 8pm.
