I'm with you on the tailgating, and it's bad in that area.
No truck passing another truck in that stretch is about the silliest thing I've heard though. And I'm one of those who is usually in the granny lane going with the flow and leaving a big gap.
Bad driving habits

I don't give a crap whats in that box I am a human and that is nasty that you will go 2 or 3 days without washing your self for a load? No way!!
x#1 Thanks this. -
That is bullcrap. If you're not the fastest driver on the highway, you are by definition "slower" and need to get in the right lane except when passing. There's no "60 in a 65" rule except for the one you made up in your own mind.x#1 Thanks this.
-
I could have easily said 65, but you can't legally pass someone going 66mph in a 65mph zone.
So yes, by legal definition, "slower vehicles" = anything under 65mph in a 65mph zone. -
Really?
Ethan -
huh? I will go out on a limb and state that you are the type that will jump out in front of a faster moving truck JUST to slow it down, waiting until it has gotten right up on you. That is what i am comprehending as i read your post.
please tell me i am wrong and that you will actually work w/another driver that is merely minding his own business and getting on down the road and not bestow your lane monitor justice simply because his decision to NOT stay in the cluster that you are relegated to driving in does not coincide with your right lane truck and your personal dislike of a faster truck.
remember you have chosen to drive a slow truck. I would certainly not impede your flow if you could ease on down the road and were doing just that.heck,i may even you use as a front door because i get tired of running my own. no i don't.it is an everyday thing-DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
That strech of road your refering to, 55 mph traffic is the exeption. Most traffic there, 4's and 18's are all doing 65 or more. I stay with the flow of traffic, slightly slower, that way i am not impedeing traffic but with everyone moving slightly faster I am able to keep a good following distance. If I am in the middle lane and faster trucks come up on me I move over. I dont tailgate, and I dont aprove of it when i see others do it. But, I am resposable for my driving and nothing I say or do is going to make another driver act as I think they should. I do what i need to insure I dont wreck MY truck, and what i need to avoid trouble coming from other big trucks and 4's and beond that hope for the best. Yes there are other drivers that I do not consider as being what i call safe, but I got enough to do driving my truck to worry about correcting their driving habits. If i can i give them a wide berth, i do.
just two pennys worth,
be safe,
bDrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I do the same, Its safer to go with the flow of traffic than to go 55 when everyone else including Leo's are going 65+

I traveled 294/80/94/55/88/57/90 in and around Chicago daily. You can almost go as fast as you want (or traffic allows) even in a CMV so long as you are not in the left lane and LEO's won't pay you any mind at all.............
DannyB and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
Especially when you are moving with the flow of the traffic. There are plenty of 4 wheelers or low flying airplanes, that they can get.
