Get Dan England and the rest of the CDL mills out of the ATA. They sure don't represent the common driver.

Organizations like the Teamsters , ATA , etc. contribute millions to politicians . Don't waste your time with a petition unless it can be sent to Congressmen in several districts with a check for at least $5,000 attached to each .

People hid time when they were not taking a break recording it as one. Time spent working on docks, checking in and out, swapping equipment, waiting in shops.........People were consistently working 16 to 20 hours on three to four hours off sleep. The entire reason for restructuring the sleeper split was to put an end to that. 14 hours is more than enough to complete a days tasks if properly planned. If a driver feels the need to take a break in the middle of that he is free to.

ah you were there.i forgot, but anyway the govt that creates a rule that allows a driver to sit in that seat 11 hrs straight is not looking out for you.large co pushed that rule cuz drivers could not get to drop on time,to lazy,to fat, to stupid, to sorry.it had nothing to do with safety,it forced them to drive,oh i know you control the truck ive been at this long enough to know thats a crock.you werent there things are not better,or safer,oh the govt says it is.ok i believe that.

So how many of you are solo and how many are team drivers ??

Most complaints I see on most threads are from solo drivers.. about, Home time .. lack of miles ect.. maybe it just me but this seems to be the pattern I'm noticing . ..

There is no rule requiring you to drive all 11. Simply trucker fallacy. As with others if driving a shift proves onerous take shorter loads, slower loads, go local. And thanks to comments much like yours you are now required to take a break you imply you could not before, so congratulations they can not force you to drive 11 straight. They never could but that simple fact is irrelevant, you are now by regulation given that break.

It is not a crock. No one turns that key but you. All the rest is as you say a crock to excuse drivers making bad decisions.

Your wrong in fact the ATA opposed the first change, and oppose the split sleeper berth as written. Most of them would like nothing better than to be able to adjust schedules to meet shippers needs instead of the drivers.

Truck management is stupid and greedy. If the 70 were gone you would never get a day off with fear of losing your job. You would be pressured constantly to do more "because Johnny can". Anything they can do they will do to keep the driver away from a decent living.

If truck management is so smart STEXAN then WHY are they buying software to figure out why the turnover is so high ????
You treat a driver like sheet, run his arse in the ground and make him sleep in 90 deg weather with no a/c and wonder why he leaves? You demand he runs all 70 of his hours and then pay him $700 gross? You make him sit places for free....when was the last time something was free at the grocery store? The manager doesn't work for free, does he? You know somebody that does?

You think DOW doesn't know why someone leaves? Exxon maybe? Ford? GM? No, they know exactly why...and then they fix the problem.

20%? Naw, how about the U.S. median of $39,400 for 40 hours and then O/T. That will break that dawg from sucking eggs real quick. That's what wage and overtime laws are for, worker protection.

No gentlemen, there has to be a safety valve to keep mgmt in check. You don't need more daily hours or weekly hours, you don't need more miles either, you need more for what you already do.....
