Ask Fat Damon, they told him to get his sleep study long with his bp levels when they sent him home.

 

Sleep studies were done this week. People walked away w/ CPAP machines. The need for the money for the physical was explained in the email sent to my husband. Along with everything you would need for the first few weeks. If your recruiter didn't send you that part, it's on your recruiter. I'm wondering if you managed to come up w/ the bus fare, why couldn't you come up w/ the $100 for the physical.

The email sent to recruits w/ their bus info is a standard email. The only things that change are bus dates and times, and names.

 

He must have gone through orientation at Pittston. No sleep study facility there. As far as Prime letting you use another Insurance company to pay for study or machine. They will not do this. It comes out of your pay in 55.00 a week payments. The total charge is 2200.00 which is alot cheaper then paying it in cash someplace else. You can, and I would advise this if you have Insurance through a spouse or another company. Get the study done before arriving to Prime's Orientation and get the machine through that insurance company. Then you will save the entire amount. But be sure to bring the sleep study paperwork with you along with the doctors info, ie....name, address, fax #. to the orientation.

Im not saying this as fact, but this is as I see it.

He was directed by his doctor (at home) to get a sleep study. He did not, either himself or his recruiter figuring he could have it done at Prime by Sleep Pointe. That means he did not have the clearance from his doctor at home. Im pretty sure Prime's examining doctor cannot step on the toes of this guys home doctor. And since this is an employment screening/DOT physical, Prime's doctor cannot offer a second opinion or order a test that has already been ordered by this guys personal physician.

Sleep Pointe is a completely independent company from Prime that is in the Sleep health business. Sleep Pointe has been contracted by Prime for Prime's sole use on Prime's property. The costs of the study, equipment, and service was negotiated by Prime. The office there at the Campus Inn services no other clients then those sent to them by Prime.

 

Let me just say this, Sleep Pointe is based out of Kansas City. They have quite a few clients and medical services they offer to other companies.

Just want to make the distinction that the sleep study is not some sort of sham company set up by Prime.

I recently got to sit in the office with the nice ladies that run the daytime operations. The conduct paperwork, equipment replacement, billing and study orientation briefing. The lab guys come in the evening for the setup with the patients and conduct the tests.

I got to hear an earful from truckers complaining to these ladies it was a scam, they don't need it, their conspiracy theories on how Prime has them fail everyone (which I was happy to pipe in and tell them I had two trainees so far who have passed the test without being diagnosed). The ladies there have heard it all.

I got a new machine. This one is smaller and a better mask system. I will say it again, I am addicted to machine and can't sleep well without it. If I miss a night, I wake up with what can only be described as like a hangover from drinking too much and smoking too much from the night before. (headache and sore throat) Plus Im tired.

 

I went to Springfield and I did come up with the 100 for admin fee but I had to borrow all the money I just wanted to put my experience in here to give other a good objective not everybody is going to have a good one or a bad one mine just happened to be bad and that they need to give the recruiter all the info they need to give people the truth before coming there

 

Hello there everyone,

I am new to TR and have been researching Prime and other companies for many months. Have had many enjoyable hours reading and learning here, esp. from U2, IP, ORD, and Kingsson. Question in regards to joining Prime: do they have enough freight to my area (NoCal, between US101 and I-5) to get me home every month or even 6 weeks? Also my place will fit only a tractor, but there are locked yards I can drop trailer close to here. Also: are there tons of trainees before T-giving? My thoughts are to train OTR in the winter, for that extra bit of hand-holding I might need... I would go to Prime for my CDL training as well. I see no other companies with as good a reputation. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

It was my pleasure. Freight depends on which division you want to be in... Reefer, I have no clue. Flatbed... We have places in Cali we pick up n drop, but not sure about that particular area. AMA lives in Cali so he could help you better with that.

I dont have room for a trailer neither, my FM found me a place to drop the trailer so I can bobtail to the house.

Not as many trainees around the holidays, at least there didnt seem to be last year. It is a really good idea to get some winter driving in before going solo. I shouldve, but couldnt handle teaming that long.

I'll probably go reefer to start, since I'm assuming more loads outta here after home time? Food production all around me. BUT... after reading about waiting times and Hunts Point, etc, I would prefer flatbed. I am in pretty decent shape after a lifetime of construction, I have tied down loads on my lumber rack a few times (I can hear you flatbedders laughing now!) . But really, I'd rather learn the driving part of trucking the right way before the load securing part. Maybe 6 mos. of reefer then is it easy or doable to transfer over to flat? Excited by all of it...!
