Mind if I ask - WHO you're dealing with on this (you can PM it to me if you don't want to disclose publicly) - and if the truck is an SCR/DEF? I'm looking for a similarly configured unit 10/11 - but I haven't seen the DEF fill door on any of the photo's of '10's I'm seeing - which leads me to believe they are late '09 builds (pre-SCR/DEF).
The Arrow stuff can be hit or miss - they get the fleet stuff, after the other "major" Volvo dealers have pawed though them - so the Arrow trucks are not necessarily the "cream of the crop". OTOH - if it has their "Arrow-Super-Special-Warranty" on it(READ THE FINE PRINT), they'll usually take care of major engine defects that come up "right away" - but, it obviously pays to have a unit checked out thoroughly so it doesn't eat you alive in maintenance right out of the gate.
The US Express 780's were pretty nice - a good friend of mine (U.S.Ex. company driver) had one for years - they "forced him" into a new Cascadia when it hit around 500K. Reviews from company drivers I know, as far as U.S.Ex.'s maintenance of company vehicles runs "hot and cold" - so again - have it checked thoroughly as others have suggested here...
Rick -
The emissions is common to be a year behind model year.
SHC Thanks this. -
Actually - the '10 Volvo's were "supposed to be" SCR/DEF models (from what my contact at Nextran tells me) - depends on the build date. The SCR setup is better than the plain DPF ones...
The "orange ones" on Arrow are obviously Pumkin's, and the Reds are likely USX's.
Probably the biggest "tell" on O/O versus Fleet trades are the lack of mount/wiring for QC - and the additional temp gauge (which you'll pretty much never see on a fleet truck).
Rick -
the MHC trucks I was talking about.
There's like 10 or so at $35K and another 18 at $30K

yea ecm readout doesw not give idle hours however i am not happy with the mpg at 5.85
-
im sure im not going thru with this particular truck dont like the ecm readout and feel i can get a better deal elsewhere.
SHC Thanks this. -
I wouldn't worry too much about that. It may SEEM low, but when you get into the nitty gritty of the fuel used and time/miles driven, you will likely find it slightly higher.
It takes into account EVERYTHING when you see it. City AND highway driving. -
what didn't you like about it? The more reports you look at, the more you will see that the mileages are all upper 5 to lower 6 milages -
I would not put too much value on mpg from the ecm. Those mpg's may include idle time. Your actual mpg could be higher or lower, depending on your personal driving habits and idle time. Most newer trucks should get over 6 mpg. When you look at any truck you don't know where or how it was driven. If a truck mostly hauled heavy and the western states, then your mpg will probably be lower than if it was driven in the Midwest or Southeast and with lighter loads. I would be more concerned with the general condition of the truck and how it was maintained.
