Recrutment Bonus is a Recruiment Bonus no to ways around it.
Tell that to the thousands of drivers that run up here day in and day out. It is a disadvantage of running the North East and one of the main reasons most don't like being up here.
That's another one of you pompous assumptions. You think when anyone has any negative to say about Prime that they are wrong and should be flipping burgers.
No, actually I was never late for a pick-up or delivery. And was on the top 3 list on my FM's board for fuel consumption many times . As far as sitting for hours or days let me break it down for you so you and everyone on here understand what I mean. Pick up a load in Haverhill, Ma at 0800hrs with a delivery at Cold Storage in Allentown, Pa 230 miles away with an appt time of 0800 the next morning. Well we all no that even in a 50 mile an hour truck and dealing with the I 95 corridor(that we all know that you think is no disadvantage) should only take 6 to 7hrs. So you arrive there but can't deliver at or around 1400hrs. Now you have only used 7 hrs of your drive time available. You just lost 4 hours of time you could be making money. Now you sit 18 hours to wait to unload. No pre-plan yet no call from FM saying they will have something for you. No nothing!!!!!So you deliver at 0800 the next morning, send in your empty message and wait sometimes if your lucky you may get a load in an hr or 2 but 9 times out of 10 you will wait and wait and wait. Now you can't sleep, cause you have slept for the last 18 hours and you don't know is you should run to the nearest truckstop east 30 miles or the nearest one west 30 miles cause no matter which one you go to the load that you finally get will be in the opposite direction from the one you chose . So you sit there and waste more time that you could be making money driving. When you finally get a load it's 1600 -1700 hrs and picks up 130 miles away in South Jersey at the docks at 0700hrs the next day. Now you have a 3hr drive and could be there by 2100 but you stop in Bordentown to sit for another 10 hours. Wasted time!!!! We have all been there at Prime and it continues everyday. If you say it don't IP you are a bold face LIAR.
You say this is trucking in general. I say you are wrong!!! There are companies out here that don't do this is all I'm saying man and that's what I've been saying to the noobies on this Forum looking to get into this industry. Prime is a great training company but if you want more miles and more money once you get the time you need to get hired by a company that will work you the way you should be. Leave!!!!! You just don't know any better because the only company you ever drove for is Prime. If your happy with running the way that I just explained then stay!!!!
IP you give alot of great advice on this Forum but Prime has alot of room for improvement as do many other trucking companies out here. Just because someone has a different opinion on them or a different way of doing things then you doesn't mean they are weak or stupid or slacking it just means they are different then you that's all!!!!!
I'm glad you get along with your FM. Everyone should be as lucky as you. -
All I can say is you were working with the absolute worst FM ever employed by Prime. How he kept is job is a mystery. And I will say it... I've never had the experience you've related here at Prime. If I were in your shoes I would have walked too.

Glad I got a good FM... He knows how to keep his drivers moving. He doesnt like his trucks sitting.

There is a cycle to reefer freight that we are all subject to. This is the end of the second quarter, with a major holiday thrown in, and its always slow. We should see some increase toward the end of the month. That's not to say that your FM isn't the cause of some of it. Also the service rating of the drivers on a board has some bearing on the kind of freight you have access to as well.
-
Always something, eh? Let me be clear. It has never - never - been good for me here. Of course the holiday is affecting freight this week. What about last week, last month, six months ago? As to the service rating line...I've never been late for a p/u or delivery. Average low to mid 8 mpg consistently, always have my bills timestamped in/out. I do everything Prime asks of me and my reward for that is a crummy pool of freight from which my FM gets to choose from? Nice! Also, I like how BC's FM was the 'worst ever employed by Prime', but I come in here and tell you it's not just his FM, but region wide and it's my fault. Like I earned a spot on the reject board. I was put here on day 1. Last I knew, a new driver has no say in his/her board assignment(beyond the obvious divisions, l/o, etc). I'd love for you to run up here for just a month. And run under the FM's out of Pittston. Somehow, I don't think you'd be nearly as quick to take up for Prime like you do now. That Prime koolaid wouldn't be nearly as sweet.
You obviously like it here and that's fine. I still think Prime is fine outfit to work for - just not in the northeast. I'm more disappointed things didn't work out for me here than anything else.
You're a wealth of knowledge for new guys asking about Prime, but when it comes to NE regional you really don't know what you're talking about.
