Hola Forum people,
I've been selling plumbing supplies for about 12 years. I was recently let go because of was frustrated with the amount I was making plus no recognition for doing what I felt was a hell of a job.
I have always been interested in driving trucks but never have been out of a job long enough to seriously consider it. Once they parted ways with me I figured this would be a great time to see what was out there for my future.
I signed up with Stevens because it's close and from what I hear is they cater to absolute newbs like no other.
I start Monday, wish me luck. I hope I don't kill anyone due to my own negligence.
I have been lurking a few days and finally decided to post. Any pointers or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
New to trucking, Really flipping new!

Hello BigTruckChuck:
Welcome and best of luck. I am not a trucker by profession, but I am very certain that some of the seasoned drivers out there will be able to give you some words of wisdom.
Again, I wish you the best.

welcome to the industry dude... i been driving for 6 years now and the best thing i can say to the new guys is, listen to the old hands out here, keep your log up to date and never drive sleepy... also if you get into bad weather and you feel uncomftorable driving just find a safe place to park until conditions get better...

I'll do my best, if you have any specific questions shoot me a message.
A week and two day's into it and I feel I am doing pretty well. Need to work on downshifting, Got scolded today because instead of clutch, rpm's clutch/shift. I did clutch, rpm's, shift. I can fix that I reckon.
After about 4 shots @ backing and parallel I got fairly decent @ it.
