So I parked at the far quiet end of the truckstop.....

Seems to me the reefer driver that dropped his reefer in the BACK of the lot AWAY from everyone was being courteous, to the other 50 drivers trying to sleep at the front of the lot.

 

Somebody say Cluck Cluck.

I actually try to stay away from people, and its funny because when I have a dry load. I'm passing all the spots next to non reefers and mine is not even on. I will say noisy trucks are way worse then reefers any day. These Carriers and Thermo Kings just purr you to sleep like those old quarter beds that they use to have in the motel rooms lol.

If you can't sleep through trucks and / or reefers idling next to you, pulling in and out all night, then you might want to re-think your choice of parking facilities. Or your chosen career as a driver.

I personally have no problems going to sleep at truck stops. I don't idle, and I leave my vents open and my 12V fan running. The only thing that wakes me up is when my truck shakes or otherwise moves.

 

A truck stop will eventually fill up. Any moron knows that. So with all the posts pointing that at...well, pretty simple what I think of those geniuses.

When a guy parks away from everyone when the lot ain't that full, puts his screens in etc... and some idiot comes and parks besides him and idles or running a refer, it's easy to understand the frustration. They had 30 other spots to chose from but they have to park right beside a lone truck. Ray Charles could see this truck had his windows open, not idling, etc.... But some moron can't? No, he just doesn't care. He has no respect.

Take Shoemakers in Lincoln, NE.....I've shown up there early afternoon, park way out back in the gravel area. Tons of other spots and some idiot will come and park right next to me. Truck on high idle, refer blaring away. Why? It's just flat #### rude.

Now once the lot starts filling up, that's a different story. Guys gotta park. That's understandable. But when the lot is not even half full, show some respect and park away from a truck that is obvious trying to enjoy a small bit of quiet and fresh air.

 

This thread just goes to show what the "professional driver" is all about these days. Really a sad state.

 

Yeah, whining about everything..

 

I will be parked in a spot all by myself with refer humming away and some dry box or flat will back in next to me. Im guessing that the sound of the refer lulls them to sleep. Other times they try to avoid me. When pulling in to park i size up the situation and try to be considerate of other drivers that may not want to hear the refer or apu. As far as that cherry parking on ramps, well, he won't be doing that after a leo knocks on his door in the middle of the night.
