Yes my ecm has the latest greatest cat file, it was already in there when i bought the truck. My cac is brand new less than one year old. It is a one piece welded bar and plate design, iam not sure how efficient it is. I thought about tossing it for a duralite since that is what alot of guys running high power are using. I also thought about PDI cac but i don't want to pay that much. My cac was just tested and had zero leakdown. I know my egt is within tolerated specs. But i also know it has decided to suddenly rise up from where it usually runs.
Something else i forgot to mention. When my overhead was adjusted the mechanic asked me how long since the last overhead and i told him it was less than a year. The reason he asked is the intake setting was so low he couldn't get a feeler gauge in to measure it. What would cause it to be so far out of adjustment in less than a year? Now that it is set right could that have caused my egt to rise?

I put a bar and plate cac in my truck a few months ago. Egt went up as did coolant temps. I think that design is to restrictive to the air flow through it. I have a duralite on the way. With temps like they are now you really have to pay attention to the gauges.

if you mean latest cat file from a cat shop that right there has alot to do with your issues. the tight valves probably wasnt adjusted right the first time. when valves work they wear the seats and valve causing the gap to get tighter. it's normal. test the cac again if it isnt leaking dont worry about it. i would say from what you have posted it is two things turbo and ecm programing,

Hello, I recently installed pdi Stage 1 turbo after the stock one failed on my reflashed mbn motor, it now has a 6nz 550hp brake saver file, with fts/fls numbers both at 0. I'm now getting higher exhaust temps and I'm making slightly lower boost pressure, also there's a whine that comes from the air cleaner canisters. Before installing the new turbo I flushed the charge air cooler and blew out all air piping. I also cleaned out the air cleaner canister and changed the air filters. My old air filters were fleetgaurd and the new ones are donaldsons. Any ideas? I was under the impression the new turbo would make higher boost and lower egt's.

    Thanks, Brent

It would probably work better with a 600hp file in it. A bigger turbo doesn't really give higher boost, it gives more efficient boost. 25psi from a small turbo isnt the same as 25psi from a big turbo. Your filters could have been dirty and your new turbo maybe have a high wistle then the old one. 0/0 are normally good numbers for power but i've heard of guys reaching high egts with them. Not the best numbers for everyday working.

Too little fuel can cause EGT issue too. I did a stage one Borg and went up about 100 egt with no fueling. If it needs fuel to run the turbo give her more. But all depending on conditions you’re applying.

Mine are 0/0 but I think more a good boss tune should take care of my egt issue. I have same data as him except Borg Warner stage 1 ( think they are the same) and stage one manifold. MBN etc

Your responding to an 8 year old thread...
I’m pretty sure it’s either fixed by now or the engine melted down lol
