My rule is simple, the less info in my truck the better. I only keep available what the law requires.

A load was picked up and is a load of dead batteries. Don't have hazmat endorsement. Companyh says it's not a hazmatload, but bill or laden says otherwise. If I took the load off the shippers ground and later realized that I was lied to. If I refuse to move the lkoad any further, can i get in trouble. Trailer is not even placard. BOL says batteries, wet, filled with acid, but company says they are dead batteries. Help please.

Hazmat. Just because they think that "We aren't labeling it as Hazmat, so it ain't Hazmat" doesn't mean it ain't Hazmat.

Exactly what genius decided they weren't Hazmat because they no longer have a charge? The electrical charge has nothing to do with the fact that there are still hazardous materials still in the battery.

It's up to you if you want to haul it. Serious consequences if you get caught. Is your job worth it? Especially since the company more than likely will do absolutely nothing to back you up in court.

Well it's been a few days since I have been able to post. We fought with the Boss over the load until wee hrs of the morning. The load was a hazmat load.....batteries,wet, filled with acid......definately hazmat, class 8 corrosive. Boss insisted that I run the load illegal, I'm not endorsed, and he wanted no placards onthe trailer. I told the Boss I quit, and I made a copy of the BOL. They sent another sucker out to pick up truck & load. I turned the company into DOT. Found out that the company had done this before and had been fined before. Looking for new job now.

What you said is pretty well correct, however you don't need to carry the previous days worth of logs when starting a new company. Most companies will have you fill out a 7-day prior sheet (one sheet and it's not a log sheet) and you carry that for the previous 7 days worth of logs or 14 for Canada.

What you should do before hiring on with another company is try and get a 34 or 36 hour break prior to getting there. This way your last 7 days will be zero's. Most companies should be having you log the orientation class on line 4. I don't know how many are actually doing that part. If they don't have you fill out the sheet, what you would do is fill out one log sheet for the previous days off duty (if you have the 34 hour restart) on their log sheet

You are only required to have the previous 7 days worth of logs for DOT, plus your current log which should be CURRENT when they pull you over! :yes2557:

Great job! Dont run illegal for anyone! NOT EVEN YOURSELF OR YOUR FAMILY!
Your family needs you and if you run illegal they may not have you anymore:biggrin_2554:

It was Walter Inc. out of New Jersey. A small 5 truck company. We are looking into several companies. We intend to pursue this, and hopefully DOT will shut them down. Thanks for all the advice, being a Truckers kid, I have trumendious respect for the industry and most of all, the truckers. I am going to school after the begining of the year so we can team. I want to drive...not just ride. Oh, it was a container load with 1,000 pounds over weight on rear tandums
