Question for the lease operaters??/

Welcome.. i guess it's to say, the lease trucks are still owned by Freightliner. So, in turn, CRE must show that there are being properly maintained, but thats mainly engine only, as FL knows they have rooks in and out of these trucks, they know a gear will strip or tranny go, bumper meets rock, etc, but regular engine service, should always be done. So, if you do decide to lease, unless you are leasing the 3yr brand new only 13miles on it truck, try to lease a truck UNDER 50k ...

My 2nd lease, I went brand new 13miles on her, and man, was I mad I didn't do it the first lease. First lease was 280K on her, broke down 2weeks after I left in SLC, stuck in Amarillo, TX for 3 days at FL, then, off to Stockton, Ca and broke down again. this time for 1week (not had the truck 1 month yet mind you). Now, unlike other posts, they will (and did) fix the truck, for free, if under the first 30days, not sure how ppl say they don't, if they don't or give you the run around, thats the part of CRE will bend you over "*IF*" you let them. Just sitting on $0.00 paychecks for the 2-3weeks, bad exp, should have quit and came here crying, but, i pressed on... and 2 yrs later...well, everyone is different...

Your break even point on miles will be around 2K (rounding up for misc costs). If you do lease you must train to keep your revenue up and it helps putting money into your different accounts.

 

Well that makes a little more sense. I am not comitting to anyone yet but, I have talked to a few recruiters and am still shopping around. I have done commercial leasing for the company I used to work for and am familiar with how they work. I was just looking at possibility of another cost saving measure. Like I said I have the facilities at the house but I am far from being a certified wrench.

 

Ok next question. I have been looking and couldn't find any info. Does CRE run apu's or inverters of any kind? Or is it just small inverters that can be plugged into the 12 volt outlets?

 

No APU's... Even when leased, they still will not authorize you to have a APU. Inverters, sure, shop will install a 1100w for you for around $250. Me, I just wired in a 800w Cobra ($49.99 + $15 extra wiring) myself, was enough for the tv, xbox360, laptop and cellphone. I have NEVER ran a microwave or fridge and know how to survive w/o them either. But I did end up with a coleman fridge, but it just plugs into the cigarette lighter.

(added note: i have seen some guys with regular ol' generators strapped to the catwalk, wires running thru the upper bunk windows, since it's NOT hardwired to the truck, they don't care)

 

im an o/o,but still went through all that. a gas gen on the catwalk is ok.i ran the cord through a small hole it the floor ito the tool box,then into the sleeper.you couldnt see it if you werent huntin for it.the 4 gallon tank would run for 12 hrs or so.i only ran it through the night for heat so i didnt need to idle.pain in the arse to get gas every day to fill it.a 1000/2000peak watt inverter is the way i ride now.have a walmart frige,100.00/800watt,a george forman 30.00/750w,acoffee pot 20.00/750w.it does it all including 2 phones computer & multiple head sets.just not two bid draws @ same time.

 

Excellent point. I'm guilty. You are right we need to give and get good advice.

 

True.. only major thing your missing out on with a Full APU is A/C. But a good 1500+ inverter, everything else can be managed.
