My truck is the first two-digits of my old company's numbering scheme. At CRE, 95### trucks were owners, I just lopped off the last three numbers and went with #95. I am going to get new decals when I also buy something to cover up the old eyesore above the sunroof.
My trailer came with a # from Halvor Lines, so that's the number I use. 53*** is a good scheme. Given I run old equipment that just looks 'ho-hum', I'm not to keen to really advertise I'm just an O/O. Nothing flashy, just getting the job done.MNdriver Thanks this. -

My company uses 6 numbers. As an owner operator I figured I would get to choose my own. So after some thought I figured the last 6 of my VIN would be a good idea. 237818. Its a good number and I also would not have to memorize anouther number as I could use one for both. I had a person look for this truck in the system to see if it was already used or not and it was not. So when I registered my truck with the company I asked for this number saying it was not in use and it followed the format they use.
However they then tell me I cannot choose my own number becouse the computer automaticaly asigns it for you. I tried to fight it as I am pretty sure the registration department was just being lazy but to no avail. I ended up geting 235325, You know how many times I have to repeat this number when scaleing and fueling? -

Last 4 of the VIN. Helps the office keep the paperwork straight and in the right files when we have a dozen units.

Letters would be good. like "number"
"Truck number number we are ready for you." -
I spend lots of time picking my truck number, and always ask the others for advice. Current truck id " 38 DD " , bra size { full grown she-bear did NOT like that one }. Had one I listed as " BR-549 ", the old telephone number on " HEE-HAW " . One was " NCC-1701 " from the Starship Enterprise. " 3. 1416 " [ notice the decimal place ] is the value of pi, used in mathematics to figure the area of a circle. " 33 1/3 " from the old record speed on a phonagraph. Thinking about " 867-5309 " , from an old rock and roll song. Kind of breaks the ice when a DOT stops me, they will always ask, and usually grin.

I never was allowed to use my own no. Hopefully my bud will let me pick my own when I start.
