If all you ever pull is a straight side box grossing 80K or less then not having a hood can make a difference. Put a deck behind that cab and put something odd shaped on it and it doesn't matter what the front of the truck looks like.
My reason for liking the stretch out front is for ride. I have driven Volvos, Shakers, T600s, T660s,T800s, W900s, 379s, 386s and I am here to tell you now that the W900Ls and stretch hood 379s out ride them all hands down.DrtyDiesel, camaro68, Ezrider_48501 and 1 other person Thank this. -

There will never be a cure for hood fever. Because guys like me and many others will never get rid of them and will only buy hoods. Yes some will say they will do away with them , thats fine because i will never own a truck newer than an 07. Just like with cars some want a prius well others buy the big suv. For me its not about makeing the last few cents on fuel milage but about enjoying what i do and drive and if it cost me a few bucks so be it but i do not run cheap so i can afford to run the hood. And to the guys who think buying a new truck will keep them out of the shop good luck. I know more guys with 08 and newer trucks that spend more time in the shop or working on it themselves then us guys with the older trucks. You might not have to pay for the repairs because of the warranty but you will loose plenty of revenue by sitting.

I love the looks of the hood, but the cure around here the last 12 years was the many who lost those hood's. when you go broke, that about cures your desire to buy expensive things.

As California goes so goes America.
For 40 years truck drivers all over America have said "You can keep California, I won't go there". Then 5 years later the Feds adopt those standards. Mexico is going to have plenty of very nice 2010 Glider kit 379's with Pre '08 non-DPF engines that people thought would be ok if they didn't go to California. -
Well, my neighbor just traded in his 2008 389 for a new Coronado in February.
He is home for the holiday and I have to say that even tho it is a "shaker" the dang thing is very nice. It is a 2012 midroof with a 60" bunk (Its not the 70" but not the 58") It has a 500hp ISX with a 13spd and 3.42 rears on 24.5LP tires. He avg 6.7mpg on the 12,800 miles (pump to pump) pulling a RGN hauling used machinery to auctions. His empty miles were only 850 total, so that MPG does not sound too bad. He said the truck is super quiet and pulls really well. He does not have any problems with the emissions equipment and said now that they have DEF at the pumps, it is easy to fill up. It's not quite a hood, but close and they look really nice.
He got it for $128,000 out the door with FET included....... i may be shopping at his dealer in the next few monthsElroythekid and camaro68 Thank this.
