I am going to orientation on the 9th. I am looking to lease possibly. I have been driving almost 19 years. I hope it will be a good experience can't be anyworse than where I came from. When I left the other job I left with the clothes on my back,a Cpap machine and a backpack to carry it in. I have two pairs of cut off shorts and some raggy t shirts and under clothes and that was as a company driver! Surely it has to be better than that.

You will do better than that for sure...Also there are some company drivers doing pretty good as well. On the next to last day of orientation, they gave us a t shirt, so you will have one new one lol..Just kidding and welcome aboard.

Thanks Drifter. I am just sitting here thinking about what the best options are for my family. Where I worked at it came down either eat and not pay bills or pay bills and not eat. It has been a real struggle. Never have I had to work so hard for nothing!

I've have had to struggle in the 2 years I've been out of the NAVY. I don't know the first think about trucking other t:biggrin_25522:han I can get a truck down the road. I'm thinking of ACT but as company driver. I didn't want to be gone from my family more than a few days but looks like I may have to so we can keep our head above water. I've never done more than 4 days out. I would like to try L/P once I figured out the industry. Seems like a good company. I just don't want to get in over my head. I can deal with being on the road. Just need some assurance is it worth it to go company driver for ACT. I need to catch a break and bring home around $850 a week. Is that feasible?

With hard work and a firm belief in yourself anything is possible.

Wow...sorry to hear that. You will see the complete opposite at Act. Welcome!

Well, first problem, you should have joined the Army... lol just kidding. You should be up closer to $1k I think, just don't try going home every weekend, but you should be able to drive through there every once in awhile so you won't even have to take home time, just stay home for the night with the load if you have time...

well 2 weeks with act now. first paycheck was short but with orientation it was expected. second check coming up still looking pretty good. a bit more than i was making with prime as a company driver. and that is even after truck payment and all the fuel. course im still getting used to the truck as well. so no complaints so far.
