I drive a different day cab,(manual 10 speed Pete, ) everyday, some of them have clutches that are very worn out, and I get to grind the hell out of em. Write it up , but the shop does nothing ...so I go on ,caring even less, and ignore all the folks that may or may not be wondering why I am tearing #### up.

From what i have seen in the past these trucks " mega carrier" had a brake clutch when they were new then the multiple drivers that drive them simply worn out the brake clutch and the carrier just don't bother to fix them!

If you are grinding gears then you are too impatient and need to learn how to drive right. I too drive a different truck almost every day, sometimes it can be three different trucks and I don't seem to have the issue but then I learned how to drive without a clutch brake to begin with.

Nobody here is talking about grinding while you drive. If the clutch brake is bad you are going to be waiting a long dang time to get it in gear with out grinding.

Besides that I don't know of a heavy truck that doesn't have a clutch brake. Besides those that are work out. The clutch brake is never used after the truck is rolling.

this is exactly my thought. i have driven a few truck that other drivers have blown out the clutch breaks makes it a pia to get it into gear from a stop when the tabs are sheered off a clutch break and you have 0 clutch break what so ever. you can stop in gear witch i always do anyway but there are times you have to let the clutch out in neutral with the truck at idle.
