Ive had drivers light up my radio saying am I going to a fire and other BS but for being a 40 yr vet out here and 38 of those years as an outlaw trucker I have 3.5 million miles with no accidents or tickets. I know when to run fast and when to back it down. Im not a super trucker but I will tell everyone this I will never sell myself out for a reason I dont believe in. Csa is nothing more than another way for big brother.to dictate how u make your living. Elogs in my book are for dummies who cant do a paper log or add up the 8 day 70 hrs even though I hear they are suppose to keep a paper log. Log book violations are the biggest problem when it comes to drivers who for some reason cant figure out what 14 from 24 equals. Csa points are just another reason to destroy someone hopes and maybe dreams of making it in this industry. If the government spent more times catching drunks on our road, UN-licensed drivers and illegals running amock and stopped worrying about truck drivers who are 89% or more found.not at fault in accidents we would be better off. We use to hire truck drivers who took pride . Now companies hire steering wheel holders who lost their job at AGI or some desk jockey who all of a sudden wanted to become a concrete cowboy and stick him in an #80,000 rocket after 6 Weeks of training and then send him out west over say cabbage by himself and the.poor sap gets wrote up for brakes out of adjustments, or some other bullcrap charge they can think of. So Csa is so great how can u tell your tail light is out when your rolling. CSA KEEP IT
Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

There coming, there here...deal with it. All you "rugged individualists" that love the multiple logbooks, working for free etc..Your days are severely numbered. Oh that's right, maybe the fearsome OOIDA can help you out. Stock up on tin foil, the black helicopters are next. And remember, it's all Obama's fault..

Now You mister are in that truck.
Here it is: some of the biggest points are for lights and rubber.
You have a light gone out or maybe a couple of them cause of a corroded hidden wire that went out sometimes after your pretrip inspection when everithing was in good order and before the police or DOT at that open scale is writing you a ticket or a warning. Citation or warning; no difference; you're accumulating the points on that CSA just the same.
Not long after that, you're loaded with a piece of equipment like an excavator. Do your pretrip inspection, check everithing, I mean everithing with a microscope, truck, trailer, trailer deck for any loose stuff, and all securement devices, the excavator(visualy), signs, warning signals, paperwork (logs, permit and route, all that).......all in order. You start your driving day and 40 miles ahead there's the DOT in the rest area performing inspections. One officer asks you for the permit right at the end of the ramp when a second officer takes a quick look at your truck, trailer and load. Everithing is good except that the officer at the back signals the one by your door to pull you over for a level 1. Cause: He saw a bolt lying right there on the deck under that excavator. They peform that level one and everithing is in order, but they write you a warning with an "out of service" violation for unsecured cargo. You remove the bolt in 2 seconds and sign on that DOT report that the out of service violation is resolved and you're released.
Regadless of the fact that you can not humanly possible inspect every single bolt on that excavator and torque everithing up to spec, you can't just stop at every single spot available along the way, can't stop on the shoulder after every single rough spot in the road to inspect the load and trailer if a bolt came loose, you're still dragged over the coals and held responsible even for things outside of your control.
More CSA points!
You're driving along and runn over a piece of something lying in the lane cause there's other vehicles to your right and left, no where to go. You hear a puff and decide to do an emergency stop on the shoulder at a wider spot. Sure enough, you have a blown tire. There's the cruiser stopping at the rear of your trailer. The officer steps out and asks: what seems to be the problem? My quick nonverbal response would be: You're the problem now! Well, I explain the situation. He wants to perform a level 2 till the road service arrives and fixes the tire. He finds nothing wrong, but he goes ahead and writes an out of service violation for the tire with a warning.
More CSA points.
Pretty soon you're asking yourself if to take another load or just give up trucking all together after decades of trucking with no accidents and a spotless record.
That's me, bud!
I'm asking nicely, all Y'all! What is this CSA doing for safety????
Is getting ridd of experienced drivers with other ways good safety records by compiling BS charges the main focus??? Thus creating vacancys for new inexperienced drivers, so that the Ob's "job creation" skim would look like it's working???
I don't know! Just asking!snowblind Thanks this. -
Smart arse!
