Getting into the bull hauling game...

    How tough is it to get into the bull hauling game as a O/O with own truck and trailer? Also I don't think I'd be making much money or many people happy with a old tandem trailer, so would you guys reccomend a spread axle or a tri axle wagon to pull? Any other advice or tips you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated.

    It just depends on your area and your relationship with the farmers/ranchers. I used to haul a lot of hogs and occasional cattle loads out of IL. If you know some cattle guys that can keep you busy and they trust you then you should have a lock. My experience has been they don't really care what kind of trailer you have and depending on the weather you're gonna haul overweight and dodge scales anyway if it's not too hot.

    Better to lease on with some outfit that will provide you with a trailer before you go spend the money on a trailer of your own, they're pretty spendy. I used to be in that business and it sure aint for everyone.

    prepare for long drives with no sleep,carry a couple log books to cause you will need them,once loaded there aint no stopping,weight loss on the cows is money lost from the load
