what is there idle policy and do they have weekly pay or bi-weekly? thanks......
-
Weekly pay and if its less than I think 30* you can idle or if its over 75*.
My idle % hangs around 18%. I have a 2013 prostar with battery packs for ac when the trucks off. The batteries last all night unless you have them on full blast. My truck has an auto start feature. If the battery gets below 12.5volts it will crank up and idle at 1,000rpm for an hour to charge the batteries.
I have been idling at customers while waiting to get loaded/unloaded because its been around 90-115* outside where I've been. If its that hot I ain't worried about my idle % lol

Also I've never had my idle time questioned. So they won't fry you like some companies
Ethanskyviper73 Thanks this. -
Congrats CDLschoolgrrad,
Were you required to do a Pre-trip for qualification day, and do they require double clutching? -
They do require double clutching. In ellenwood we weren't required to show a pre trip to the instructors.
Now that I'm solo I don't really double clutch. My truck makes it difficult to do anything but float.

Good Luck and enjoy life.
-
Hey duanes57, yes even my phase 2 trainer makes me double clutch and they do make you do a full pre trip in phase 1. You do it with your pod of other students, usually you and 2 others, and they give you a cheat sheet to use.
-
1catfish, yes, weekly pay. The 2012 pro star I'm in with my trainer wont idle more than a few minutes before shutting down. It will auto start as drtydiesel said if the epu packs get low, and wake u right up at 3 am!
-
Just did the first day at Orientation,,
We did indeed do full pre-trip as a group. Driving and backing test, then off to phyiscal test for flat beds. Passed all with ease. I can't believe i was stressed out over the physical.
So tomorrow day 2.
