where did you go to school and where about in NC are you im looking at getting into the industry soon and I am planning of going to Roadmasters in Dunn for training, what is PAM offering ?

I went to Future truckers of America in Asheboro. I really liked it out there all the instructers are friendly and helpful and they actually care about making you a truck driver not just getting you through and making money. They also try to keep there classes pretty small ours started with 13 and we lost 3 to the physical so we graduated with ten in the class. Pam is pretty much like any other starter company. they prefer teams and if you run team the pay starts at 17.5 cents a mile and you get paid for all the miles the truck runs not just your own. solo starting pay is the pretty much the same as everywhere else at 28 cents a mile both increase every three months I believe. I did as much research as i could and for the most part they got good reviews for being a starter company. Im out of Lenoir NC its out in the hickory boone area.

okay so your way out there lol, im about to be back at Ft Bragg/ Fayettville to separate out the Army, its my time to go
But im looking at Schneider and there military apprenticeship program , they seem to have a pretty decent company for us newbies but as with everything people complain and i hope that is all it is .

yea i dont know too much about them personally im sure you can find some ex or current employees on here. All companies will have bad reports its tough to sort out whats legit and what is from guys who couldnt hack it or just didnt like it. I got some of that with PAM people were saying bad things cause they were fired. One guy had three property damage incidents and was fired others were mad cause an old speeding ticket they had and didnt mention came up. My advice is just search these sites and see what has been said

thanks I wish you the best too hope everything transfers right

About how long after you graduated did you go down to AK and did PAM cover the costs for you? My husband is leaving for FTA tomorrow to go to PAM so we were a little curious about the wait time once he graduates.

well i got sent 2 weeks after i graduated school but there was 2 guys that graduated the class before mine and only 2 of the 4 from my class and one from the class behind me so id say avg is 2 to 3 weeks.from talking to others from different schools i found that FTA is generally much better in there equipment, driving time, and training at least at the Asheboro, NC one anyway i dont know if there are others. PAM pays the bus fare to Arkansas, the hotel( which is better than the one in asheboro and has a pool) lunch and will pay him each day in class. Breakfast is at the hotel its just cereal toast waffles. there is a shuttle to walmart for items he might forget and a couple of restaurants near the hotel

Thanks for the info! We searched everywhere online to try and find the down time once he graduates and couldn't find anything. He'll be happy to know about all the stuff you told me! Good travels!
