So someone who drives a newer well maintained truck doesn't show pride in his work?? And no shippers/receivers and people on the highway could careless what kind of truck you drive! The only thing they care about is getting out of their way and having their product shipped and delivered safely, except for maybe a select few.

The shippers I haul for definetly notice. Perhaps I keep getting calls because I do a good job? They also pay me well for my services. I am definetly not the lowest priced truck they can hire. If you want to make your truck the perfect egg shape for maximum mpg, more power to you. I will enjoy my work and to me that means keeping my W900L. I will never be part of the race to the bottom for the cheapest per mile.
poppapump1332 and rbht Thank this. -
Aero makes no difference when you haul open-deck. I've ran with many guys in Volvo's and 389's alike that get low 6's pulling equipment like I do. Some of these loads can really screw you over!!!
For a van operation, the aero truck wins hands down!!!
And 95% of the trucks MPG is controlled by the nut behind the steering wheel. -
My Aero Volvo 770 rides better than any of those antique trucks along with it is alot better insulated to cut down on noise alot better than those antique trucks.
Ever notice those old timers that drive those antique trucks for a long time are about deaf when you talk to them and you can hear them talking on the phone at the truckstop because they are so loud from being deaf driving those loud antique trucks so long. -
When I worked at Kenworth the regional rep cam through for Paccar telling us the T700 is gonna change the industry, then the MX motor is gonna change the industry. It will make the W900's and the Pete 379 null and void. I just though....Hmmm your trying to replace your best selling....smart thinking.
Personally 99% of all new aero trucks are geared for company trucks, set back axles and all. -
Noise and being deaf is from are straight pipes!!! Only thing a Volvo is good for is electrical problems

you forgot a rattling dash
-
And anybody that has a clue knows that a setback axle rides rougher
-
I think that has more to do with the old days before air conditioning and driving with the window open
To each his own
This is why some companies build both trucks.SHC Thanks this.
