Anybody understand why the wastegate on an ACCERT is on the high press turbo and actuated by the low pressure side? I'm having high EGT issues and soo far the only thing I can find awry was the wastegate seized tight. Just makes a guy wonder how it builds 50+/- psi if this wastegate is set to dump the exhaust at 25.2psi.

What are your EGTs soaring up to?

it keeps from over spining the high pressure turbo and destroying it. how high are your egt's?

Hey all, thanks for the interest. The pyrometer will easily spike to 1000 when empty and if loaded I've seen as high as 1100 give or take, but the thing is if I drive more aggresively the boost will go 50psi and keep egt's lower. Checked CAC. Found three silicone hoses leaking, no change when fixed, checked hot and cold side impellers, no obvious damge, no excessive freeplay up and down or in and out. Checked all clamps on plumbing and now I'm stumped

1100 is normal for the acerts. get an ecm tune and your egt's should go down.

If your running your RPMs lower your EGTs are going to be higher. If you drop a half gear and run your boost up higher your EGTs will drop.

Thanks for the advice guys, I admit I do lug the heck out of this engine but it just runs better down low. Combine that with the heat we've been having and sure its gonna heat up it just seems too hot to be OK. Gonna try to get it in this week at Terry's in Dyersville IA. To get tune and de activate VVA's. Should help I'll post results. Thanks again!

iam not sure deactivating the vva will help because they are desighned to allow more cool air in the cylinders for a cooler combustion just a thought

Good morning Bob1234,thanks for the reply. From what I've researched on the ACCERT engines the VVA,s were designed to open the intake valve just a bit to allow exhaust gas into the combustion chamber creating "passive EGR" No performance gain like oh say Hondas VTECH system. So instead of heating up the intake charge with exhaust gases I'm hoping this will cool things down a bit not to mention get rid of that annoying stumble on cool mornings.
