Did line haul during the summer. The dock was very hot. All night I had sweat on my forehead. Each night I got more and more tired. One night when it was time to hook up to head home (6am) I stood at the side of the tractor and looked up at the door and had to work up the energy to climb into the cab. ALL THIS BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET A GOOD DAYS SLEEP.
When I run OTR, I run at night once in a while, but I have a choice most of the time and run days 90%. NO PROBLEM. Now don't get me wrong, there are guys that love it. But I think they are a smaller percentage of the drivers.
In my humble opinion, I would try to go regional (NJ should have somthing), be home weekends, get your experience down, and a world of opportunties will open up as long as you keep your nose clean.yard dawg and CenutryClass Thank this. -

Local probaly doesn't pay as much but at least your expenses on the road aren't as bad.

I think that u make more local I just made 71250 last year and on track again for the same and I never go over 60hours a week plus home every day start at 5:30 done by 2:00 or if I work after that it is overtime, plus good benefits, making 27.00 an hour so I say go local, this is my 5th year started as a temp and got full time last year. Got my senority plus now at 3weeks vacation plus 2 weeks that I banked. Got to love Pepsi.
