The major carriers are lobbying for all this stuff why? To put smaller companies out of business why can't you people see what's going on?
Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

You would always be in violation. The difference being the level of recording and ease of falsification.
Gotta love the crowd that just knows not one O/O or small company is running compliant. EOBR's going to run them out of the industry? If your only advantage in this industry is your pretty good with an eraser to make up for others failures you need to go and actually make the case for elogs.Autocar Thanks this. -
But of course you are right! The more of you guys that get put off the road the more business they have! Seen it happen here before, in a nation that was built with o/o's most of our dry freight is being exported via an Austrian mega carrier, I hardly even know 1 o/o nowadays!TheRoadWarrior and Westbound Thank this. -
Well said! We've been using them for years, they've done nothing for safety, actually quiete the opposite actually, our 'falling asleep' accidents have gone up slightly, the European union has commissioned an inquiry into why this is happening, the reason all of us truckers know is simple, there is no flexibility! you need to fill you're hours everyday, otherwise the truck isn't profitable! With the older tachos you could fiddle them a bit, like if you were tired you could stop for a few hours then wind back the clock and your days driving hours are still in tact, can't do it with these electronic wanks! Despite some people thinking that you won't be able to drive tired with these the opposite is true they in fact encourage driving tired and I know this cos I'm working with them since 2007 and I see the problems they cause everyday!
True they can't be compared to actual safety devices like brakes on the front axle. (no brakes on front acle, is that true?) or ABS, we have gone past abs now and are using EBS and discs, they will stop a 97,000lbs truck as fast as an automobile and always in a straight line, that's a safety feature not some 'spy in the cab' device that compels you to drive tired!Westbound Thanks this. -
Scania u bring up a valid point. Mega carriers have tons of trailers and trucks and if an O/O is 30 mins or more late the mega carrier will grab it thru their brokerages. they also have ways to swap loads to keep em rolling or the biggest sin to trucking PUT IT ON THE RAIL. To me the mega companies charging full rates to customers then sticking it on a rail for a quarter is a kick in truckers faces. Yes I know the auto industry has done it for yrs but remember JB Hunt started it now they all do it. Its a power thing and a battle between the bottom feeders. No wonder trucking is in disarray and drivers pay is still stuck in the 90's. Eobr do we honestly need them and goverment people who run the DOT in Washington who have never been in a truck rule the trucking industry.
Scania man Thanks this. -

Werner has been "paperless logs" for over 5 years. I wonder, was there ever any published report regarding any statistics; crash numbers, OOS by HOS numbers, other non-HOS issues comparing before the "paperless" to the time with elogs?

How about hire the best drivers, pay them very well and fire those that are not top performers. When managers see drivers as needing punishment it says alot about the front office. If you have a problem with a driver deal with him or her directly. And if they can't do the job , no games fire them . So how much did the e- log punishment improve your csa score?
